There are two free public courts. You need to in-person wait in the line. First come first serve. People write down the time when they "entered" the court and are allowed to play for up to 60 minutes.

At around 8:00 PM, the south court's light turn on. At around 8:30 PM, the north court's light turn on. The north side is brighter at night.

The north court also has pickle ball lines!

Overall, very well maintained courts.
3 courts, back wall, and pickle ball court.
Great facility here in Union City. This is predominantly hispanic neighborhood but I feel safe. There is even a police officer here which made me feel even safer. There are 8 tennis courts and they are maintained clean. It's popular among the players so you will likely be waiting in line for a while.
Waiting May to start playing so far so good
My son takes tennis classes here! 🎾
Decent tennis courts next to playground and picnic area, and usually easy to find street parking. Depending on the time of day, you may run into crowded courts, but they usually open with 30 minutes of wait.

There are 2 separate singles court (no doubles lines) that I see coaches typically use to keep balls contained.
Tennis lessons are not allowed to be given at Washington Park...
Well maintained courts in a nice area
Really well taken care of public courts. Can get busy on the weekends so expect a wait before being able to hop on and play. Also they have lights that stay on pretty late.
Its a wonderful park to go to except it needs better and more supervision considering often children are playing football in the area of children swinging on the swings and not caring if they hurt another child with their througing their football.
The net on Court 1 is low but overall this is a great place to play. Turnover was consistent at 1hr.
The pickle ball court is a bit short, and the balls roll away. Other than than, great condition and location.
These courts are locked up and go unused as a result. A real shame.
It was a great day at this park. We did have a great day the kids loved it and everyone was respectful, the only problem was the lady's bathroom, very dirty and stink.
Great lighted courts!
They've gotten busier during the pandemic. It's harder to find a court nowadays. It's first come first serve and the sign says to limit to an hour but many groups decide to play much longer and don't let others play. Please be considerate.
Had a absolute wonderful time with my soul mate! The tennis match was intense!
Weekends are crowded but you can still get a court for 1 hour a day, if you book 48 hours in advance.
Nice looking tennis courts but we waited over an hour on a Saturday morning and there was still no open court.
You must book for 1hour only 2 days advance but it's worth it. No court fee
Well maintained, well lit, and have a beautiful view. Pretty awesome place to play some tennis!
Great place to play into the night and watch the Men's and Women's Tennis teams practice 😎. Great pros/coaches too.
Three hard courts and backboard at Rose Park. Nice Georgetown neighborhood. Decent surface with some minor cracks. No lighting. Busy on weekends and after work. One hour limit if others are waiting but you may have to keep track of others' time (and your own). Good place to meet others and get a pickup game (esp. doubles). Lots of regulars including 3-4.5 level players as well as some casual and former college players.
Great tennis courts and great lighting. Didn’t have to wait too long to get on the court. The nice thing about these courts is that they’re fully enclosed - which means you don’t have to worry about ruining anyone else’s tennis game.

Excellent place for novices and pros a like. Well lit at night time.
It was a great place to play when permit was needed, and someone forces the rules on court, but there has been more and more tennis coaches taking over one or two courts forever, and refused to leave. I went there this morning, and ask one coach for the court, but he started cursing, bullying, threaten me, and lying that he has a permit, which this court does not need one. He even try to bump head with me, and physically hit me.

If you want to have a nice time playing tennis, pay some money for a not free court, as free courts are always full of liers and bullies abusing the system.
Good public courts...Usually a wait of up to 30 min or you walk on immediately
There are six hard courts. Nicest courts in NYC. If you know a resident you can play there and sometimes it's free depends on the week and or if there is a kids camp going on.
Great place to play tennis in the city! Yearly membership is required to access the courts but it is way more affordable than renting a court at the majority of the tennis clubs in the neighborhood (especially if you play regularly). You play on a first come first served basis, but for a maximum of an hour if other people are waiting in line to play.
The tennis courts are very well maintained. There are only two courts so make sure to come ready to wait some time before one of them becomes available.
Closed to the public. (Relatively recent policy -- within the past couple of years.) So, on weekends and, I imagine, evenings, these lovely courts go unused and are empty.
Lovely lit courts that are well maintained.
