The Church of Saint Mary by the Porticus, in Campitelli is a church dedicated to the Virgin Mary located in the narrow Piazza di Campitelli in Rione Sant'Angelo, Rome, Italy. It houses a 25cm icon of the Virgin Mary and Saints Peter and Paul. According to legend, the icon appeared miraculously in 524 at the table of a Roman woman.

A beautiful and peaceful church. It had a very positive vibe.

Stopped by randomly as we were walking back from the old Jewish Quarters. As with most churches around Rome, the architecture, ornateness and sculptures are impressive.

Worth a stop if you are in the area.
Santiago Hernandez
Hidden gem. Breathtaking like all of Italy.

Sublime atmosphere and magnificent architecture. A major catholic church completed in1667 to reunite the churches of Santa Maria in Campitelli and Santa Maria in Portico. A miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, Santa Maria in Portico, dating back from the XII century, is guarded in this Church. The church was built after the liberation of Rome from the terribile plague epidemic which ended in 1656. The church was built in a baroque style and it features several paintings of baroque painters
