This is a nice museum. Very interesting. The items on display all have a story attached to them with names/dates. Very well kept and displayed.

The artifacts are very beautifully displayed and clearly very well taken care of. You can tell that the folks who run the museum truly care about the history and preserving what they can while sharing it with the public. The multitude of artifacts that range from flags to journals and everything in between is absolutely astonishing. No matter the size of the piece, each piece is definitely given the same amount of love and attention. Seeing a cradle that President Davis and his wife rocked their children in truly gave us goosebumps. If you are ever in the New Orleans area we highly recommend that you stop by. It is literally right across the street from the WWII museum. Even the building itself is rich in history, and listening to the creaks in the floor as you walk through is something you don’t see very much these day. A huge thank you to the staff for your kindness and answering our questions. We will be back the next time we are in town.

Oldest running museum in New Orleans/Louisiana. Great care was taken in detailing and preserving the history of the confederates.

Beautiful historic museum with an awesome collection of flags and artifacts. Nice gift shop as well.

I feel this is an absolutely must see museum for history buffs. The oldest operating museum in Louisiana and second largest collection of Confederate memorabilia in the world. A very large representation of Louisiana units, soldiers and commanders. Original uniforms, flags, weapons and personnel effects all carried in the war. A really fascinating collection.

Very interesting museum. Was very interesting to see all the flags and information behind some of the people who were in the war. If you just finished the WW2 museum spend the 1-2 hours here and watch the movie when you can.

I arrived about 40 minutes before their 4pm closing. The museum collection consists primarily of various personal possessions of officers of the Confederate Army and some key individuals of the Confederacy. It does not attempt to tell the full story of secession and the ensuing war, though of course all the exhibits relate to those events. It is therefore an entirely different experience from the lavishly narrated WW2 museum across the street.
I found it worthwhile, but had no difficulty leaving before closing.

This is a small beautiful historical building just across the street of tremendous WWII museum. But it has some kind of unbelievable concentration of real historical artifacts. They are not just depersonalized display items. Every single one of them has true stories behind. It tells you who this thing belonged to, who that person was and what he did. I wish they sell copies some of their showpieces like chest, corkscrew, etc. in their gift shop.
