Loads of steps up to the top of Calton hill.. You can walk round, but this is wayyy quicker !
Stephen Paterson (Ayrshire Don)
Steep steps to the top of Calton Hill, but well worth it! Fantastic views across the city including the castle, Leith docks Palace of Holyrood House, and even the Forth Rail Bridge in the distance. Whenever I am visiting Edinburgh I always go here and I am never disappointed. Oh and don't forget the monuments as well!!!

Nearest accessible steps up to Calton Hill from the city centre, if you come from Princes Street. Beautiful hill view, you can see the north sea afar and most of famous Edinburgh landmarks from Calton Hill. Expect some stairs and uphill tarmac pathways.

Such an amazing viewpoint for the whole city. If you are able to go, make sure that you do. You won't regret it.

Lots of places to sit down and take in the atmosphere. I brought some trail mix with me as well which was much needed (I got a bit carried away with my wonder) 😁

Even in the wind and rain, worth a visit!
Beautiful view from the top where you can see the city and Arthur's Seat.
There's a car park at the top if you wanted to drive up there. 4 flights of stone steps plus an uphill walk from the entrance where Calton Hill meets Regent Road.
If you're uneasy on your feet then take hiking poles or a friend :)

Not a very long hike. A short stroll to get a majestic view of the entire Edinburgh city
Asim Ahmed
Best views of Edinburgh. Not a difficult climb - would definitely prefer over Arthur's seat
Mike Clarkson
Great panoramic views over Edinburgh, and quieter than other areas of the city.
