One of the most impressive views in Vienna, with the Opera house in the background. Good spot for taking nice pictures in the evening.
This monument stands in tribute to Archduke Albrecht and second son of Archduke Karl and Henriette of Nassau-Weilburg. He is noted for his military success against the then emerging Prussian state.
The monument is a bronze equestrian sculpture of Albrecht wearing his field marshals uniform. His left hand is holding the reins of his horse, while his right holds the marshal’s baton. The sculpture is larger than life and depicts Albrecht at his most impressive.
The monument is located at the Albertina, on the Augustinian Bastion just outside the entrance on the upper level, but you’ll likely spot it if walking towards the art gallery as it’s pretty high up.

It is a nice vantage point overlooking the opera. There is an escalator going up. Nice viewpoint. Good people watching.
