The Arkanqun Natural Reserve left a profound impression on my October trip this year. This beautiful natural reserve, located in the high mountains, provided me with a breathtaking natural experience. Despite encountering an unexpected snowstorm upon my arrival, this reserve still left an indelible mark on me.
First and foremost, the natural beauty of the reserve is simply awe-inspiring. In the month of October, Arkanqun was covered in a vibrant tapestry of autumn leaves, with lakes and rivers glistening under the sunlight. When I reached the mountaintop within the reserve, I was overwhelmed by the snow-covered peaks and the serene lakes below, as if I had stepped into a fairyland. This experience was particularly enchanting after the snowfall, when everything appeared purer and more tranquil.
However, it was during this trip that I faced an unusual challenge - a snowstorm. A snowstorm in October is a rare occurrence, but it allowed me to experience the power of nature in a deeper way. Though I was stranded in the mountains for a while, the staff at the reserve were highly responsible and professional, ensuring the safety of all visitors. They provided temporary accommodations and food, helping us weather this unexpected event.
In addition to the natural scenery, the Arkanqun Natural Reserve offers opportunities for hiking and adventure. I spent unforgettable moments here, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, and truly immersed myself in nature.
In conclusion, the Arkanqun Natural Reserve is an unforgettable place. It showcases the grandeur and diversity of nature, and even in the face of a snowstorm, it taught me to respect and awe the power of nature. I highly recommend all nature enthusiasts to explore this hidden gem. Whether you visit during the snow season or summer, you will find stunning vistas and incredible experiences.

We visited for 1st time in Oct 7th 2023 fall.
Probably to see a full autumn color, a week earlier was better but still overall the foliage color was spectacular.
We got one day pass and we could stop by each spot we liked (arrived 11:30am and leave there at 6pm) . We gotta experience Canoeing 🛶 as well and it was so fun.
The area has a rich wildlife. We were lucky that accidentally we saw dears and chipmunk.

One of my favorite Provincial Park in Ontario. 2nd week of September till Thanksgiving longweekend are the busiest weeks of this Park because for Fall Foliage. Lots of interpretive trails. Centennial Ridges is our favorite with at least 5 lookouts, if you do the whole loop of 10.4 kms. Sunset here is nice when its clear sunny sky😉 (post #11)
Wonderful staff at all locations. Beautifully taken care of trails and facilities. Views were fantastic. Will be back next year for sure!
Got a daily parking permit online to park along one of their highway 60 parking lots. We explored the lookout trail, it was an easy 30 minute hike to the top with a great view of the forest and lake. Then we went canoeing at Lake Opeongo.
Algonquin was super scenic and has lots of hiking trails, can’t wait to explore some of their other trails next time.

This really reflects on Algonquin Park as a whole - I mean it's big but we always visit a few spots. This time it was only a two night stay, so we camped at Pog Lake (quiet and a good cell signal), kayaked on Rock Lake (options for short or long trips) and hiked part of the Centennial Ridges Trail. Always something to go back for.
Such a beautiful provincial park. We went on a rainy day, so could only hike two trails. The lookout hike was the best. Has the best view. Hemlock bluff trail was not so enjoyable as the trail got really muddy and messy because of the rain. This trail leads through mixed forest to a great view of Jack Lake. It’s a 3.5 km loop and starts opposite side of the parking. You need to cross Highway 60. The visitor center is a great place and they have many activities and exhibits.
Breathtaking views, gorgeous beaches, crystal clear water. It was in my to go list since 2012, and we finally made it to go see this Canadian beauty where Tom Thompson found his inspiration. We will visit again for sure cause we have so much more to explore 🙌
