We came in from out of town with friends to see a production of Bread and Puppet. I know and love Bread and Puppet so I am very familiar with their work. However, the production that was promoted on the TFNC website was NOT what was presented. There was no notification that the presentation was changed we simply got a program minutes before the start. I won't go in to the details but it was unfortunately a very one-sided and mean spirited production...not the Bread and Puppet I remember. Additionally, the Theater staff didn't know what they were doing. We came in with printed tickets. At the door they said to go ahead in. At the seating they said we had to go back to the box office and exchanged our printed tickets for little red tickets. The whole experience was a disappointment.
I'm really enjoying performing at the Theater playing the character Billy Bob from Biloxi for The Rock Opera musical called Killin Republicans

Love the place, it's such an East Village staple!
Hasn't bounced back completely yet after the pandemic, but this year's Halloween party was much better than last year's!

We saw Twisted here which was a 10/10 play btw and totally took me by surprise, didn't expect to enjoy it this much. The theater has some really cool artwork all throughout, from the entrance to the restrooms. Though the theater could really improve its seats, it's definitely worth trying if you want to watch something new.
We saw Takedown here just a week ago...great show! This review is about the theater specifically and we marvel at how this small gem of a theater/community center operates. It is so worth supporting and kudos to the founders and staff. You all are quintessential NYC so don't stop and keep growing! Bravo!
Went here for the free art festival. It was fun to see how creative people in the community truly are. Would love to see more. However, I think they should work on making the interior and exterior a bit more presentable. A fresh new coat of paint and art outside could bring more attention to the venue.
Highly recommend seeing a play here if you're in new York city for even just a few days. We saw Hamlet in Harlem and I can honestly say I enjoyed this more than seeing Hamilton on Broadway.
TNC is rich with artistic minds which comes as a community. Great shows and people to work with. Love to see them showcasing home grown talents/artist. Needs more organizing but over all its a great place to find!
