Former electric power plant. Now it is museum with a large collection of Roman Empire statues. The building contains the old machinery for the production of electricity. The final results is an innovative post industrial museum. Strongly suggested.

One of the Capitoline museums. Capitoline is the Smithsonian of Italy. They have been getting bequeaths and archeological discoversies for 1300 years.
Wonderful dichotomy of modern power plant (decomissioned in the 50's ) with ancient greek and roman statuary.

Second visit, after many years, but this place never stops amazing me. This mesmerising combination of industrial-revolution-age machinery (including the smell of lubricant oil 😁) and Roman era statues.... Unique in every sense !

Absolutely stunning and without a single negative remark on my side.
I did not have any idea of what this place could offer (and I am from Rome) and I was left speechless.
Contrast between industrial archaeology and "proper" archaeology is on point in every spot of the exhibition and all the pieces are shown so that every visitor can really study them if they want to.
The exhibition setup - i.e. descriptions, videos, path - is really well done and the price is fair (free for residents with MiC card).
It is absolutely a must-do and I will suggest it to everybody I know.

Loved the museum, being an engineer I liked the space all of the exhibits were in too. The size of the old diesel engines is very impressive!

We were very happy to escape the unbearable heat, and this museum was also nice and quiet.

One member of staff on entry was incredibly rude, astounded me how she just stood there on her phone and ignored us and another two people waiting to pay entry.

I was really excited to check this place out (and LOVED the neighborhood - super cool with a very industrial vibe). But I was a little underwhelmed with what I saw in the museum. It seemed a little contrived. However, I would still recommend checking it out - and most especially for the Ostiense neighborhood which is very local with lots of great street art. Really worth wandering around the area.

Really fascinating museum with fantastic mosaic pieces, trains, and statues, all set in a far more industrial building. I learned a surprising amount in our short time in this museum. Definitely a lot of cool pieces and information to learn. The site also offers guided tours and has a low cost entry fee.

You are not allowed to bring backpacks, but there are lockers on-site to lock and stow items. This is probably less useful in peak tourist season as there are only around 30 lockers and a couple cages for larger items like strollers. So come prepared (as in without a lot of gear/shopping) and ready to learn!

I had been wanting to visit after friends had mentioned how much they enjoyed it.

There are many museums in Rome, but this one is very unique. I loved the juxtaposition of the industrial feel of the old power plant with the displays of mosaics and sculpture!!

Definitely worth a visit!
