This WAS one of my favorite places to dine in downtown Springs, but after this evening, we won’t be coming back. There’s a list of issues that this place needs to address.
My husband ordered the chicken dish, their newest offering. The food took 45 minutes to be served, and when it arrived, it was only warm. The chicken was overcooked and dry, so we sent it back. At no point did the manager on duty come over to acknowledge the issue. In fact, during our entire 90 minute visit, he mostly just stood around, arms crossed, and sometimes went into the kitchen to prep food for running. More to come on management later.
Though we didn’t have a reservation, they were seating walk-ins. We were told our only option was a high-top, which is a small round table, not ideal for ordering full dishes, which we wanted to do. Therefore, we asked if we could wait for a regular table. The hostess quickly said no, and none the 3-5 available tables were offered to us, citing “reservations”. Two of those tables were never sat the entire time we were there. The hostess refused to acknowledge that we could have had one of the tables we requested. The high top we were at was not only small, but unbalanced, which caused my wine glass to constantly be sliding around, nearly off the table.
The bathrooms are not clean, nor stocked with basics, like toilet paper. Of course, when I went to use the bathroom, the woman before me didn’t bother mentioning that there was no TP, so I didn’t discover this until I was already in the stall. Only after one employee heard me complain, did they go in and replace the toilet paper.
Keeping all of this in mind, the manager seemed to treat this evening more as a social event for himself, chatting and gossiping with the servers. NOT leading by example, he failed to notice some very common restaurant practices, leading to a sub-par experience for us. The cherry on top was watching the manager leave as soon as workflow slowed, not bothering to do a final walk through of the restaurant. Hell, he didn’t even bother asking anyone how their meal was!
Our sever Matthew was great, and he was tipped well for his efforts. It’s disappointing to see what was once a great restaurant go downhill with the sign of the times of substandard products and services.

Me and my sister ate there for lunch and it’s our first time there.
It’s an upscale restaurant so expect to spend around $50 for 2 (if you order from lunch menu) but we spent more than that because we are hungry! LOL
They have Lunch menu (not many choices) but lunch price was pretty good deal (it’s between $14-$20), it came with a soup or salad or crispy fries. Regular menu was more pricey but more choices.
We ordered a cup of New England clam chowder, Shrimp & Scallop Ceviche, Maine lobster roll (Lunch menu) and 6oz Filet mignon with add on’s shrimp scampi and sauteed onions & mushrooms (we are hungry!)
We didn’t really like the Clam Chowder because it’s too thick but the taste is great.
The ceviche taste so refreshing with perfectly citrus flavor (not overly sour). The scallops in ceviche is a baby scallops so don’t expect you will get a regular size scallop when you order it!
The lobster roll was not as we expected :( we really put a high hope on it but too bad it’s a little bland but It still tastes good if you are someone who likes food in moderate flavor, it just not us ;)
The Filet Mignon was the savior! It cooked perfectly medium! The mashed potato is delicious too. The shrimp scampi was tasty and was perfectly cook! Not forget to mention the sauteed onions and mushrooms is completed our steak on a plate :) YUMMY! But we forget to take a picture of it lol!
Overall, i would still recommend this place if you are looking for some seafood and steak! It just us not liking the food but they taste great!

Incredible! Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in CO. Our server Matthew was super knowledgeable and did a great job giving us recommendations. I had the scallops and my boyfriend had the ribeye. No leftovers and we were just blown away by how good it was. 5 stars all around!
Atmosphere was great, server was sub par. I'm giving 3 stars, because we ordered our steaks medium rare, and when we got them found 1 was medium. Asked the server and he said I quote "looks like some in between medium and medium rare" then walked away. (It was medium well) Paid 400 bucks for sub par service. Won't be going back
Great place to dine if you’re in Co Springs! I ordered a prime rib & my wife got a seafood tower, it was absolutely delicious!! Thank you to our server Wesley, he took great care of us! We will be back.
SUMMARY: While not the absolute best seafood you'll find, it's absolutely the best you can get in southern Colorado. Overall Bonny and Read is among the top 5 restaurants in Colorado Springs, and a great special occasion date night.
EXCLUSIONS: We still haven't ordered the steaks here yet, and are excited to try them. I'll update this review after we do.
GOOD: Very good seafood here, done right. Special mention for the cioppino -- some of the best I've had anywhere. My wife loves the crab legs. We always enjoy the oysters here. (And if you like really, really strong horseraddish, you'll be pleased with what they have on offer.) The seafood tower is good, but not as good a value or as massively over the top as you'll get in a larger city or a coastal town.
Cocktails are nice here too, with a nice liquor selection.
Dining here feels very adult and civilized.
MEH: As with any seafood restaurant, be careful venturing too far from seafood (or steak) offerings in the menu. The "black garlic fries" were a bizarrely terrible execution; basically regular fries with some un-melted cheese, a couple of random pieces of fried garlic, and a forgettable sauce.

I love Bonny and Read Seafood! The atmosphere is great. I love the female pirate themed decor. Service was excellent. Very friendly, attentive staff. Bonny and Read is my place for raw oysters. Check them out if you're in the Colorado Springs downtown area.
My girlfriend and I made a reservation for our one year anniversary. There was nothing that I could mention that was negative about our visit.
Our server was pleasant and moved the dinner at a perfect pace. I work in food and beverage, and her timing, suggestions, description of the menu, and hospitality are superb.
Above all, the food was delicious. I am on a wholistic diet, so the salmon with spaghetti squash and shrimp was worth every penny. I couldn't make it at home if I tried. Will be visiting again in the near future.
