A great trail for a quick walk - right next to the old Northville Psychiatric grounds - easy way to get somewhere quiet right next to a busy city area!

Beautiful fall scenery along the Chinkapin Trail. Lots of maple trees. Leaves do cover everything in the fall, so it’s easy to lose sight of the trail. Be careful!

Love this tail. Great place to take the doggies! I will go back.

The trail is very well marked and easy to follow. The trail winds through the forest and is relatively quiet. Signs clearly mark where you can park. The only downside is the road. It is unmarked and you will not be getting close to the 30 mph limit, closer to 2 - the road is terrible.

A. Unmarked dirt road from Haggerty made me feel like I was illegally using someone's driveway.
B. There is no parking, fire lane apparently
C. Road was so bad I scraped the bottom of my sedan, even going slowly enough and trying to avoid the largest dips and potholes

I was so angry I went home without trying the trails. How are there still unpaved roads in Northville?

Walked both trails. The green trail (Chinkapin Loop) is an easy 10-15 minute walk on mostly level ground with regular signage making it impossible to get lost. The first half of this trail runs along the border of the woods so you’ll see a building or two as you go, but the second half turns deep enough in to give you that “totally immersed” feeling that only Rotary park seems to offer around here.

The blue trail (Bell Branch Loop) is designed for mountain biking and is much longer with greater changes in elevation. It was unfinished and mostly muddy but I walked it in 45-60 minutes. There is no signage yet but only one path, so you won’t get lost. They’ve built in some fun and challenging obstacles for bikers like a detour path made of stones or a shortcut made of a flattened log bridge.

Overall it was a beautiful walk in nature and for long stretches of time the only “civilization” I heard was the sound of a far off train. The biggest issue remaining will be to pave the quarter mile stretch of Wayne Avenue that leads to the trails from Haggerty. The entire stretch is dirt road full of muddy potholes and I’m pretty sure my sedan took some damage along the way, even with me crawling at a snail’s pace. But when this park is finished it will be beautiful!

Nice well marked trail. Mountain bike trail is only a little over 2 miles long, ibrode it multiple times, it was fun. I believe they regularly groom the trail in the winter for fat biking, that is why I was interested in trying it.

Short but impressively built bike trail. Great for beginners. Seems like a work in progress, more features have been added since my last visit. Watch for some stray rocks in the middle of the trail.
