Quite possibly the best preserved triumphal arch in Rome and perhaps the most beautiful. The arch was built at the tail end of Rome's imperial zenith and the detail as well as the high level of execution reflect Rome's sophistication at the time. You should not miss this one while at the Forum.
Marius Bancila
Impressive how the arch stood the passing of time and still looks strong while the forum laid in ruin.

This arch was built by the Emperor Septimius Severus in celebration of his military victories. Located in the midst of the Roman Forum. It was built in 203 CE and it is remarkably preserved.

Lucian Marin
Third arch in the area and the most detailed of the all. It glorifies the Roman-Parthian war victory of Septimius Severus and his sons.

It's truly a wonder that all these arches survived in such good conditions, while the rest of the buildings almost fell to the ground.

One of my favorite 😍
Go back to the past a little bit and just walking around here…
I was really stunned when I saw this place. I just stayed here and I could watch this monument for long minutes.
A monument designed with meticulous care… all I could think about, what it was like when the soldiers returned home from battle passed under the arch… I love antiquity ♥️

Less impressive than the Titus arch, and newer with a century. It is either worse repaired than the Titus arch, or the original material is worse. It is built to commemorate the victories of the Roman against the Partians in the end of 2nd Century AD. MAybe the most prominent feature is the damnatio memoriea - Caracalla, the son of Septimus Severus, ordered he name of his brother Geta, to be removed from the inscription.
