The Library is a fantastic resource and I can highly recommend it for any sort of research you have to do. Best to avoid the café though, unless you've recently had a win on the lottery. It's almost £3 for a small coffee.
Wethies are just around the corner..... Much better coffee half the price and complementary fill-ups.

Very noisy. Lots of screaming babies. Coffee was unpleasant.
I love this place. This cafe is a great addition to the main concourse.
I went shopping this morning and the store paper bags didn’t hold up to the very wet weather. The staff were so lovely and helpful and gave me a binliner to replace my by now disintegrating paper bags. Thank you so much. Little bit of Manchester magic right there.
Very helpful staff, lovely sausage barm! Relaxed, contemplative atmosphere as you might expect in a library, but you don't have to whisper 😄
A great find in Central Manchester. Browsed the local and family history stacks nextvto the cafe then enjoyed a cuppa.
Although the food is a little boring and the vegan options seem almost nill....I still enjoy going here and hanging out. Quite often take my own food as the vegan food isn't available when I go.
Nice place if a bit high traffic and not enough tables, the staff were lovely and you can't complain about gettung to have lunch in a library, my main qualm is with the foods.
There's a goodly amount of sandwiches, wraps, cakes, buns and fruit but no real hot food, which I understand, but the prices for the more snacky stuff which you can get are surprisingly high so it'd be difficult for most to get more than just a snack in most cases, which makes it feel more like a tuck shop than a cafe to me, hah.
Otherwise, no real conplaints of the place beyond very minor nitpicks.
