Very pleasant place to purchase a book, if they don't have the book they're happily willing to order the book for you!
I love this bookstore. They always have an excellent selection. I also really love ordering an iced caramel macchiato with oat milk from the cafe and it’s one of the best in DMV! (I personally will go drive the distant just to get their coffee from them)

They do a very nice job of making the most of their limited space to build out a strong selection of books. Super friendly and helpful staff, and they even leave a bowl of water outside on hot days for neighborhood pups.
Part of book shopping is also meeting other book lovers, with those that work in the store included. Clerk #313 ruined my shopping experience! I was excited to buy books for my classroom and one personally, but he decided to begin creating an account for me without asking if I wanted one, gave me an hard time about proof of being an DCPS teacher after showing him my school ID AND my friend who is also a teacher showed hers as well. I chose to only buy one book and leave the other. It’s teacher appreciation week, so least he could’ve done is continue the positive vibe. Next time I will only go to my favorite location on Connecticut avenue.
Politics and Prose at Union Market is a great place to find a wide selection of books, gifts, and more. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the store hosts a variety of events, including author talks and book signings. It's a great place to spend a few hours browsing the shelves and getting lost in the world of books.
I’ve loved going to Politics and Prose since I moved to DC 10 years ago. I’ve been gone for a bit and was quite ecstatic to find they have a location right in my old neighborhood.
I’m not going to lie, it made me want to move back. I went there twice this week alone. My recent visit a couple hours right before my flight. It was worth the risk.
I digress, the store itself is small but packed with the newest books on the shelf. Walking in, I was tempted to just touch all the books. There’s fun quirky collectibles and Knick knacks you’d be tempted to add on to your book purchase and the staff are very helpful too. I went on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t packed, there’s limited parking but not hard to find.
I love books and I’m glad Politics and Prose is growing to have more locations.
