Nice smaller loop through an area of the forest on the reserve, easy to get to by parking at the contact station and just walking across the street. You definitely need to pay attention to where you are walking on this trail as there are tree roots growing all over the path, I did this trail after a week of pretty heavy rain and there were definitely muddy and slippery parts. Flies were a problem too but it's the great outdoors it comes with the territory. I ended up taking the Wild Turkey Way connector on my way back after the loop cause of the mud and just walked down the road back to my car. If you want a bit more length into your hike and want to see the river - definitely check out the Patuxent River trail and overlook which is just on the opposite side of the contact station. The river trail is pretty short so I wouldn't recommend it as a main hike but it's definitely good as an addition!

Trail was fine, very flat and wooded. Lots of mud and areas you would have to slog through. I’d recommend sticking to the Turkey run and skipping this little part. They did have some nice historical and planted things at the beginning which was nice.

Really pleasant, easy hike. Almost completely flat with occasional views of the river and some benches. It starts across from the contact center in the butterfly garden on the boardwalk.
