I have had both excellent and terrible experiences here. This fair is normally fantastic and not overly crowded, same with other events on the fairgrounds like the food truck festivals and renaissance fair. However, this year we waited in line for two hours. I eventually walked up to the lot and realized we were very far away still and they said the parking lot was full and it would probably take a couple more hours to get in. By this time it was already 1pm on a Sunday and the fair closed at 5....we just turned around. It was very unprofessional that they didn't have anyone telling people waiting in line for hours that they weren't going to get in until right before the fair ends, and there were still tons of people behind us. There were also no bathrooms or port o potties in the parking lot. Needless to say we probably won't be going to this fair again which is disappointing.
I may be bias, but this is my favorite fair of the season. It's small, humble, hometown and old fashioned. I do hope in the future there is better weather and more fun activities to attend. The weather we can't control, but what a good time. I will continue to support the community and the town. Keep the prices low and the activities high. Allow more venders and more activities to come in and let all the people around have a great time.
We had a great time seeing all of the barrel racing and other events that went on. Lot of people having a lot of fun. Parking was very well organized and the place was packed! We had had a lot of rain and they even separated four-wheel vehicles from the others due to mud in the parking area. Super nice people!
The Harwinton Fair is a small-scale Big E, without the impossible traffic, the elbow to elbow crowds, and the high prices. This year was wet weather, not ideal, but great effort was made. Loads of music, rides, tame animals to see. Also plenty of fried everything to try at the food trucks. Thanks go to the fire departments for their very fair priced food booths. The animals alone were worth the price of admission.
Incredible atmosphere and good time. The food was very good and just a fun day out.
My wife and I went to the Robin Hood’s Medieval Faire at the Harwinto fair grounds. The Faire was a time period decor during Robin Hood. A nice way to spend the afternoon we watch several shows and knights have a battle
Enjoyed the RobinHood Faire being held on the fairgrounds. We had a great time and helped support a number of local crafters and artists.
Ive grown up in Harwinton, and going to the fair was always a highlight of mine. Ive gone every year since I was little. The barns are full of rabbits, lambs, and different poultry on display. Along with other barns displaying quilts, baked goods, and unique products and services. Different days of the fair have either tractor, oxen or horse pulls. Then there's a ton of different food offered; rice bowls, chowder bowls, onion rings, lobster rolls, candy apples, deep fried oreos, and ice cream. And if you're curious.. parking is always free on the fairgrounds.
