It's a really mellow park to go mostly walk ur dogs as it's known as the dog park
We at Rotary, are creating a habitat for Monarch Butterflies and other polinators to sustain them in their migration.
Rudy Ortega Park is an historic park sitting on the site of a village of the Fernandeno Tataviam Mission Band of Indians. The tribe is in the process of seeking federal recognition which would make it the first recognized tribe in Los Angeles county. Visitors can learn of the history of the Tataviam tribe along with the culture from one of the elders...there are programs here for school children and adults. A very nice little park with a great history and story to tell. The elders are happy to speak with the public and educate people. Very friendly and informative.
We did filming of The Investigators series for netflex and the park was very clean, a little noisy , but nice place to visit !
Very quiet little park. Very peaceful. I like to walk my dog here. She is tiny so its the perfect size park for her. I love the many different plants. Thank you Rudy Ortega
Nice and quite . walking around and reading the history of the area is nice and makes you think about our great city .
Rudy Ortega Park is a curious park. It’s mostly landscaping with paths crisscrossing it. At first glance it looks like this was designed as a showcase for native plants, but as you take in more detail it looks like there was a plan to provide much more information about what existed here historically. It looks like there were really big plans for the park and they just weren’t completed. There are waterless fountains and rocks carved with symbols and shafts in the ground designed to hold poles. The more you look the more you discover, but none of it leads to anything satisfying. Mostly the park is a place to walk and maybe picnic. There are two outbuildings here, with one being public restrooms and the other being a meeting room used by Scouts. There is also a seating area in the fashion of a Greek amphitheater, probably also for use by the Scouts. There is a water fountain with basins for people and dogs. There is plenty of parking. There is no playground and there are no open fields for play either.
