I’ve been coming here for over 35 years, I really shouldn’t expect much from the service. The roast pork is great, often reviewed and tons of pictures. They serve it cold, so you should ask to have it heated. The chicken fried rice was not a favorite. It lacked flavorful and the chicken was dry. Cash only environment in this day and age is a little crazy. The health violations this place must have are galore. They have had a grade pending score for a couple of years, as a consumer with choices this doesn’t make me comfortable.
Authentic Chinese restaurant in China town NYC. I like roast meat here, chicken, pork and duck all of them are taste good. Noodle are also good. Lobster are available. Cash only. Seating area are not so clean but it's ok. Restroom are not clean at all and located in the basement.
Great way to experience Chinese food in NY - the waiters are no-nonsense but prompt. Make sure you are ready with your food order! It is cash only but there is an ATM - also worth noting they include the service charge in the bill so don’t over tip! We ordered:
157 - Chicken with broccoli
159 - chicken ding with cashew nut
156 - sweet and sour chicken
91 - roast pork fried rice
128 - pork chop with peking sauce
It was great!!

I went here for lunch with my husband and two friends. The first thing I noticed is they do not greet you at all and are cash only. The next thing I noticed is the luke warm air which ain’t to much of a concern. I went up and asked for a table and was given one in the back in between two other tightly placed tables. One of the people in my party saw how tight the tables are and he is 6 5’ and realized he won’t fit and even if he could possible make it work, he would of been very uncomfortable. He decided to wait outside. This made the rest of my group uncomfortable as well but we were starving. We got quick appetizers due to our waiting friend and it took them about 15 minutes before they came to take our order. Someone did keep coming by the table to fill the water which was the only polite service we received during our time here. Once the order was placed it came pretty quickly within about 10 minutes. The only issue was I ordered the same appetizer as my friend and only one came out? They also brought the bill to my husband when we need a two separate bills. I decided to just get the cash from my friend to add to the bill and gave her a $20 for our part. The bill was $16. My plan was to give her $25 and to use separate money to tip I wanted the change from my $20 back. The lady goes “ YOU’RE NOT GOING TO TIP !!!?” I explained our bill not being separate and she reluctantly went to give me my change back and we were so uncomfortable I told her to keep it. I was planning on tipping based on service and was still planning to give her more than $4. Honestly though based on the long time to take my order, incorrectly taking my order, assuming my husband is paying the bill and then not giving us two bills, I honestly feel like the service was bad and a tip wasn’t deserved to her but to the person who kept our waters full. I did check and other reviews have also pointed out the awful customer service too. I will say the food was good but there are many other places to eat in this area I would go anywhere but here.
Very long lines. Busy all the time for a good reason. These chefs stay very busy no question about it. The wait to get a table it can be long. It’s definitely an old school establishment that makes it an institution along other Chinese restaurants. You’ll see the ducks roasts from the window.
I’m not an expert on Chinese cuisine, but this place feels authentic to me.
The atmosphere is so unique, the yelling waitress, the hungry Chinese families that are coming to grab a bit- it’s unique and special, I love it.
I had to remove one star because of the cleanliness- dishes aren’t very clean and I’ve seen locals sanitizing their utensils in the tea (yes!!). Also the service was a bit rude (but it’s classic to Chinese restaurant so I’ll take it)

Lobster!!!
Super value for money and tastes great. Had with ginger and scallion.
Duck was slightly different from British ones but still just as delicious... maybe not as fat and juicy.
Fried rice was with salted fish and chicken.
The rice porridge with mixed meat very tasty.
Angry aunties run the place so don't reach out for stuff without permission.
Overall good food.

my family has been coming here for years for roasted/bbq meats. it’s like a staple of chinatown- really glad that it’s still around and was pleasantly surprised to see a new location open up in williamsburg as well!
also really like the rice rolls with the you tiao filling and also don’t sleep on the sweet you tiao 牛脷酥 either. literally a gigantic doughnut with just the right amount of sweetness. lunch specials are very affordable as well.
