Super underrated (and underfunded by the government)
It is the worst college ever. Professor are not good at all especially in the science department. It rare to find a good professor. Classes that deal with any science major consist of 80to 90 students in lectures. Most of the students don’t attend. Professor only take attendance on the first couple day of the semester, other than that attending classes doesn’t matter. Exams worth all your grade average, even if you have A in the lab. Honestly it is hard to pass a class in this college. It is a mess, they all care about the money that come out from the student/ loans and etc. departments control over your schedule, you always all find an issue with cuny schedule. Most of the departments but classes at the same time. I never been a full time student due to to this issue and also because the professors are not good, they are not teaching, they only saying blah blah blah that never ends. And You go out of the class confusing. Don’t wast your time here. I wasted a year in my life because of this mess
I love the location of CCNY in the New York on Hudson edge, it has big parks and grounds compared to other colleges which are like just look like any other buildings not like a college.
Now I assure you I am not one to write reviews but City College has been asking for this one. During orientation it was very chaotic (which was to be expected) what was not to be expected was waiting outside for 20 minutes because there was a group inside a classroom my group was supposed to be in. The whole “tour” was rushed and I feel it would have been better to separate people by majors and the undecided people can also tour most of the buildings. Then you get a MILLION emails from everyone and their mother at your college email. I get emails from outsiders that I’ve never even heard of. Another thing to comment on orientation was the guide in my group, as pretty as she was she was rushing in and out walking at 25 mph, she didn’t even stop for a minute to make sure the whole group was together and fine. Then the buses they offer to pick students up from the train station to campus and back, mind you there are only two buses and they are really small fitting around 30 students at most. They don’t even have a schedule for students to know what times the bus will be there.
Lastly and recently how can you possibly offer puppy therapy, and get this WITH A MAX CAPACITY OF 80 PEOPLE. There are thousands of students on campus and they don’t even offer a couple hundred. See, when I fail my finals I’ll send my professors a screenshot of how a ticket to get in and pet the puppies were “sold out.” Although I will say the views are beautiful too bad I have to catch my breathe after walking 5 blocks from the train station and up a hill.

Admission office assistant is really friendly, she gave me great tips and helped me a lot .
The original City College of New York was founded as the fist pvblic institution in the United States. At one time it was known as Harvard of the poor. Its castle like Neo Goth style makes you feel like in a Harry Poter flick. Sit on the laws and enjoy the birds. All the roads within the college are open to the pvblic and the views are great!!!
I visit this campus to attend college basketball games at Marshak Hall. I find it a beautiful campus alive with history.
Having evolved over the years yet still standing tall, both old and new New Yorkers will tell you that The City College of NY still delivers a mighty big bang for the buck. Always important to have a real sense of direction when considering higher education. Not everyone is suited for this path. Some persons could well benefit from less expensive certification courses at an accredited institution or trade school.
CCNY is an amazing institution. It has a wide variety of majors and minors, and a student can get a very well rounded education at this institution. Aside from education, there are always great events and lectures happening on campus covering a variety of topics. CCNY is not just for people working on their undergrad or graduate degrees, it is for everyone.
It is very much like a community college. It's very diverse, tolerant, peaceful and affordable for middle class students. 😎In fact, many well-known people, such as Woody Allen and Colin Powell, have gone to this college. Plus, there's a lot of guidance involved for those whom wish to find their passions and study abroad. So, for those who wish to explore, this is definitely worth it.
In the heart of Harlem/Hamilton Heights is City College whose educational pedigree is second to none.
