Such a cute little hotel! It was perfect for me and my 2 boys. Clean and quiet. Will stay again if I ever come back to NYC! Thank you for the stay Chelsea Inn!!
I stayed at the Chelsea Inn for 3 nights during a business trip in September 2023 and would not recommend it for the following reasons:
- No cancellation possible, even 3 months prior to arrival
- No private bathroom (the reservation actually included one)
- Room with no windows
- Misleading website and pictures; look and feel of the interior were way less 'modern' and 'glamorous'
- No space in the room to dry items like towels
- No space to perform any type of work (e.g. no desk or chair)
- Low sleep quality due to noisy AC and fridge.
- Closet had 3.5 hangers
- No room keys, doors locked with different codes
- 35 dollars cleaning fee
There is more to say about the 'unconventional' check-in process via email and the friendliness of the staff which have room for improvement.
On the upside, the location was great. If you don't mind the above, you are in the heart of the Chelsea district.

Be prepared no lift!! 5th floor what a trek asked for private bathroom didn't get it ,they charge 35dollars to clean your room ,which I have had bigger shoe boxes just a dreary place
This is NOT a hotel, it is a tiny box!
No elevator, I had to carry the luggage climbing the stairs to 4th floor.
Internet is very slow, and no Internet at all the next morning.
No front service, so no help at all.
No local phone provided.
Stained floor, see picture.
Broken door/wall.

The hotel had a nice location, good-looking rooms and great service. You do have to throw your own trash away and clean your own room but I prefer it that way. You can request a room cleaning though. I also don't know if this is a new york thing but I was not prepared for the amount of stairs I had to climb to get to my room. Would book again.
Absolutely amazing hotel. Location is perfect.
Rooms are small , but clean. No elevator, so you have to use the stairs. Who cares ! It's good exercise.
Stay here and enjoy NYC.

My flight got canceled at the very last minute, and the airline's handling of the situation left much to be desired. They refused to provide any accommodation and instead gave us a brochure with supposedly discounted hotels in the city. Faced with the uncertainty of 200+ people trying to secure a place, I quickly glanced at the brochure and decided on the "Chelsea Inn" due to its 3-star rating on the website.
However, as I was en route to the hotel, I read the fine print and discovered two significant concerns: 1) The hotel had shared bathrooms, and 2) There was no reception. The latter worried me since I didn't have a US phone and hadn't received any confirmation from the hotel. Thankfully, upon arrival, I found someone at the front desk.
Although the room itself was clean, I couldn't help but feel disappointed considering the price I paid. Private bathrooms should have been included at that rate. Additionally, having to carry my suitcase up five flights of stairs was quite inconvenient. The hotel's lack of luggage storage was another major drawback, especially for travelers with late flights. Furthermore, they charged an extra $35 for housekeeping, which thankfully I didn't require during my one-night stay.
In conclusion, this hotel might be suitable for those who plan well in advance and receive check-in instructions on time. However, it should never be advertised as an option for last-minute bookings, especially for international guests who might urgently need a room. I can't imagine the trouble I would have faced if there hadn't been anyone at the reception upon my arrival.

Great location and value for right in the middle of Manhattan. Small rooms, but quite clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The location is ideally central to all points of interest both uptown and downtown. The only real gripe I can make is we had a 4th floor walk-up to our room, but it’s New York, baby. Roll with it. On the plus side, my legs and butt look fantastic.
