A decent trek with beautiful view, the hike takes 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the speed.
This trek is moderate trek. It takes almost around an hour for uphill. Watching the passing trains along the foothills add charms to trek.
Time to start trek is 6 in morning and it’s recommended to buy tickets in advance from Karnataka tourism portal.

Buy the entry from Karnataka Ecotourism website. They show a limited number of passes available each day but I think they allow people to pay cash at the entry point of the trek as well and we saw a lot of people. A guide was allocated as we asked for it. He was kind of helpful but not a lot, we saw most of the people doing the trek without one.
The climb is steep and rocky, but not too tough. We went with family so it was quite tough for the kids. Took about 1-1.5hrs to climb up. The view from the top is amazing.
The fort itself is in complete ruins and hardly anything is left of it except for the temple at the top.
The climb down is slippery due to gravel in some places and we saw several people slip and fall. Wear trekking shoes if possible.
Trek opens up at 6am so start early and return before it gets too hot. We started at 7.30 but spent a lot of time at the top. And it was super hot on the way down between 10-11pm.

Good but not that great !!
Fortification is almost ruined, no proper management from authorities yet they charge hefty entrance fee - 250 on weekdays and 400 Rs on weekends excluding GST.
Only best part is small mahashiva temple which is standing firm with great serene.
Notes:
1. No proper walking trail around the fortification, be careful about insects and snakes.
2. Better avoid coming with elderly people and small kids.
3. Carry your food and drinks.

Moderate trek with serene views of the surrounding hills and the lake. Takes 1.5 hrs uphill with trail of loose boulders. Watching the passing trains along the foothills and the highway nearby adds charm to the trek. Book in advance, start early. Trek is allowed from 6 am only, so sunrise views are not assured! But the view of the lake and hills makes it a worthy trek.
Trek Level of difficulty - Moderate.
Please book in advance and do take a guide if going with family.
Excellent Trek just 70 mins from Bangalore. I visited this place along with my wife and daughters. The younger one is 9 years old and she could manage to climb with some help.
The trek has large boulders and trails is well marked. Please wear hard shoes. It takes approximately 90 mins to climb and also to come down as distance is just a couple of kms.
The views from this place are breathtaking.

Very good Trek with scenic view. Well maintained. Make sure not to litter. Keep it clean and enjoy nature's beauty. Wear good shoes as lot of rocks in the path.
