Proper 21 K Street

Have gone to Proper 21 (K Street) for past 3 years with our teams for their end of season "dress up" team dinners. The staff has done a great job of giving us our own seating area and even a microphone/sound system for after meal speeches. Food was very good and was topped off by the staff throwing in free dessert for everyone! All in all, a great night.

I did a business happy hour at Proper 21 K and would highly recommend it! Every part of the process was professional and easy from the communication, to helping me figure out a menu and signature drink to making it a great event the night of. Also-they were very flexible when I asked for a few changes. We will definitely be planning future events at this location!

Stopped by with my wife, the food was excellent we had salad with shrimp and eel nachos, the atmosphere was beautiful but our server Marcus was more concerned with his phone I had to call him 3 times while he's leaning on the bar playing with his phone, not a good experience with Marcus

My fav go to spot for after work! I work in the medical field in the city and it’s hard to find a good food spot with excellent service after a long shift. Me and my coworkers love rolling up after a long shift and treating ourselves to yummy food and drinks!!

Shoutout for Morgan for always giving us the sweetest service when we are there !

Also double shoutout to the GM Dom! He was so attentive in making sure we were happy during our visits! Def love the vibes in this place. 10/10

The restaurant has a lot of potential. The decor is nice. It’s a huge place. It was odd that it was nearly empty on a Saturday night. The noise is insanely loud. Service was great. The tuna wonton nachos was better than the salmon dish. The salad was over dressed but that was our fault for not asking for it on the side. Good spot for a big group.

Here visiting the NLC WOMEN CONFERENCE in WASHINGTON D.C. I’m from Dallas,Texas but Proper 21 was soo good. Made reservations for 6:30pm.

PHENOMENAL. The food, the atmosphere, the customer service. All of it! Visiting DC from Philadelphia and I spent my birthday here last night with my husband and it’s our favorite place we’ve dined at ever!

We watched the college football games - if you’re looking for a fancier place with good food to watch some sports, but still want that fun environment - this is the perfect spot!

I had the poke nachos and mussels, my husband had the birria egg rolls and salmon - chefs kiss, such good food!

Thank you Gabriel and Mark for such fantastic customer service! We will definitely be back!

The first time I went to proper 21k, they were offering a wonderful deal during brunch hours. They offered unlimited food and drinks for a flat fee and everything was delicious! We all got different dishes and enjoyed all of them. We asked for more orders of the potatoes because they were amazing. We left tipsy and satiated!

The second time I went to this same location, 3 months later, I was told they still had this brunch deal but when we arrived we found out that was not the case. We decided to stay anyway and the food was good again, however the kitchen should be embarrassed about their shrimp and grits. As you can see in the picture, there are 3 small shrimp per serving which is not at all worth the price. My sister brought it to the attention of the waiter who very truthfully acknowledged that it is not a good serving and was very understanding when my sister asked to choose a different entree. The waiter said took my sister's order of a burger and also said she would have the chef come out. The chef came out shortly after and also apologized but he said that was just the serving they used. His body language and demeanor suggested that he also knew it was an insufficient amount of shrimp for the dish. She was also offered a comp dessert or drink. However, we were once again disappointed because the burger took a long time to come out and was overcooked based on my sister's temp request. Finally, while the server was friendly, the service was slow and inexcuseable because the restaurant was slow. I probably wouldn't go to this restaurant again.
