Drove over from Aiken SC to ride the Canal trail to ride bikes. There is a smaller paved trail when you cross the bridge and go to the right, that paved trail is about 3 miles long. If you go to the left you can follow the canal on a level dirt trail, and that trail is about 10 miles long. Lots of great stops along the way. There is a Mt Bike track, (for experienced riders) along the trail.
We parked in this parking lot, and I asked someone biking by, how safe it was. They said is was safe during the day, but at night you should be aware of your surroundings.

Love this trail!! Lots of place to stop and have a picnic if you like. Very family and dog friendly.

Great trail for walking, running, or biking. Wide paths but don't go after heavy rains since path is red dirt. Good scenery of Savanah River.

Great place to head out for a walk or run, but I would not go alone, as going on the canal path side can be rather solitary. Dog-friendly, bathrooms. Very pretty. There is a picnic table under an overhang outside the bathrooms.

It was my first time exploring this area. It has a couple trails that look promising for bikers and runners and walkers. There are a few little bridges. I saw somebody with a fishing pole so I guess there's fishing in there. It looks like a fairly safe area, but I would not go alone unless I was very familiar with the area. You should always have a buddy with you anyway.

Nice trailhead for hiking and biking.
There’s a restroom facility that’s fairly clean.
There’s also a small waterfall not far from the trailhead.
Can park here to access the Canal Trail and the singletrack that has a surprising twist & turns. It was fun riding it.

A nice network of trails through the park and along the canal. The old powderworks chimney and mills are along the route as is the Salvation Army Kroc Center. There also are occasional information signs and art installations.

Very good spot to choose the desired trail such as asphalt, non-asphalt, along the river, Canal, etc ! Also, a good spot for park and ride though the parking is kind of unpaved. Has restrooms, water fountain. Has good approach roads ! Often have seen police supervision at the parking lot and along the trail - safe !
