Best priced museum we went to in New Orleans! They had a free concert while we were there, and a display about the coins produced when the building was used as a mint.
Enjoyed this on my first day in NOLA.
No tickets needed in advance.
Has a section on the mint it used to be.
Some lovely posters around the venue.
The drumming section was my favourite section.
The Fats Domino area has some of his stage suits which look great.
Staff were very friendly.
Concerts on regular and free sometimes.
Worth a visit.

Great Museum that covers the historic story of Jazz. These are pics of the French Quarter in New Orleans.
If you really like New Orleans Jazz artists, this is definitely the place to be. On display are many of the instruments from Jazz greats, some of their clothing as well as countless mementoes. The museum is located within the old New Orleans Mint building, which in itself is worth seeing. On the first floor there are displays of things from the Mint days. For us the New Orleans Jazz Museum is definitely worth the time.
This was a fun little museum just on the edge of the French Quarter. The first floor exhibits about the old mint, the original use of the building, was awesome. There is so much history surrounding that mint and it’s time as both a US and Confederate mint. The second floor houses the Jazz museum exhibits. A bit small maybe, but we’ll portrayed and beautifully put together. Price for entry is absolutely reasonable.
“Ya like jazz??”~Barry B. Benson. But seriously, if you like jazz or music in any way, you should definitely visit the NOLA Jazz Museum! The museum’s exhibits largely focus on jazz musicians and culture from New Orleans, which was new to me. It was certainly neat to learn about the iconic jazz sounds of the city! Additionally, there’s a smaller museum located within the Jazz Museum about the building’s history as a US Mint. Totally worth visiting, too, and there’s no separate admission for it. Best of all, the museum hosts free jazz concerts throughout the week, one of which I was able to attend! It was such a great time; it’s not everyday you visit a museum with lively jazz music pouring out onto the street!
The place you need to visit for the Jazz culture and history.
The fee is 8 USD.
You can enjoy a live music show at 2pm on the 2nd floor.
The 1st floor has a music and souvenirs store with pretty original posters (from 15 to 35 USD)

Great museum 3 levels. Learned a lot and seen a lot here. Very affordable only 8 dollars per person. Even had a concert while I was here. If you are ever in town try them out and after you leave stop by the French market to get a gator on the stick and fresh squeeze lemonade 😋
Located in the old US mint at the edge of the French Quarter, this is where you need to go to get your education on about jazz.
The exhibits of world class and ever changing.
The location is also home base for several local festivals that give you unprecedented access to some of the finest talent the world has ever seen.
Picture provided is from the gate that faces the French market and also several restaurants with outdoor seating.

This was a nice stop. It's outside of the French Market, so a bit of a walk. We drove and were able to park in front. Parking is paid as with most of the city. We were able to text to pay.
Inside there were some exhibits. We were able to watch an hour-long Jazz concert performed by 5 musicians, 3 were rangers . That by itself was worth the entrance fee.

Great dual function museum with the mint museum downstairs and the jazz museum on the second floor. There's also a performance theater on the third floor. Very friendly staff, I really appreciate the passion that some staff and volunteers have for their building. Definitely recommend even if the Louie Armstrong experience has disappeared into the archives.
its not what i expected. its smaller then i thought. it didn't have a lot of music to here like other jazz museums. you can see the entire museum in a few hours. for me it wasn't worth the time because I have been too others that had more to it. you don't get to hear or see the music at all.
The first floor is dedicated to the history of the Federal Mint that was I New Orleans. There were many neat things to see! The second floor was dedicated to the history of jazz and had some awesome interactive exhibits!
