This was such a great place full of history. We enjoyed our walking tour but wished the military museum had been open when we were there. The staff was very helpful and had a lot of information that made our visit very enjoyable. We will hopefully visit again when the military museum is open.
An awesome collection, and most of the equipment features a sign with more information.
A good regional history museum. I loved the displays about the bicycle riding Buffalo soldiers, in the 1974 recreation of their ride from Missoula to St. Louis. A little bit of the interpretation felt dated, such as the reference to "hostile Indians." Well worth a stop.
Attending the veterans fair and exploring the museum as well as all of the different buildings and historic equipment. My son and I had a good time.
It is a very nice museum, it has the history of the CCC in Montana, the territory and tribes that used lo live in the area, as well as Missoula's history in WWII. It also has a section about how the bikes have been great part of Missoula's history. The entrance fee is $4 per adult.
We absolutely LOVED this place! Seeing all the old mining, logging, and farm equipment was a thrill for us. The museums (4) are very nice. I wish more of the older buildings were open to the public. Loved climbing up the lookout tower... great views! Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy!
Wish I had saved more time for this place! Everything was free, self-guided tour of many original buildings and artifacts from the 1800’s. Loved the trains and the schoolhouse!! They have books from 1870 just lying around for anyone to pick up and read. Complete with an old railroad station, log home, and original church. Expect to spend 2+ hours here if you really want to soak in all the history.
