Newly Renovated (2024) Shaw Plaza Balestier.

It's mainly filled with eateries/restaurants that are Asian/Chinese or Japanese.

A Pharmacy, plus a great Cinema that's peaceful, and a large NTUC supermarket.

Perfect daily little mall when you're hungry, or need everyday groceries and slightly "more" (like.. basic amenities more)

I would call it more to a "daily necessities shopping centre" rather than a mall, which would have more variety of shops.

But really can't complain cause if you're living here, or on a holiday, it won't let you down.

4 stars cause its new, clean and lots of waiting areas outside the mall with a bus stop with MULTIPLE buses that take you everywhere in Singapore.

Torn down and rebuilt for a 2nd time. With F&B taking up most of the shop spaces, kind of a food mall than a shopping mall. This is probably the way to go in an era of online shopping.

My first time here. First impression is a lovely neighbourhood mall. All the basic need is definitely met such as supermarket, cafes, F&B selection. A lot of good reviews are written.

One positive impression is the toilet, it is super clean, I.D. got a bit of homely touch to it. The cubicle partition is built very closely to the flooring rather than have a high gap. The toilet itself is already 5 stars for me. As an interior photographer I can’t resist snapping some interior shots in the toilet. :x :x :x

Is interesting there’s an exit door (automatic) on level 2 that leads directly out to the overhead bridge or back into the mall, another user friendly design.

The green space at the children playground is rather unique, i can feel the cushion when i stepped on the rubber ground. Lower columns are covered in actual greens plants with pipe feeding water to it. I was delighted to see a butterfly actually came to check it out (watch video).

I think if the management in future can consider have vertical greenery on its facade would be so beautiful. Also a way to mitigate more urban heat.

Will definitely come back here when am in the area.

Nice cosy neighbourhood mall with supermarket, multiplex cinema halls, eateries and a variety of specialities shops. It has been renovated recently and looks much better now. The toilets are also cleaner. There's also a small playground for the kids.

A cosy and refurbished family-centric mall with a good variety of F&Bs, entertainment, and education services. Reminds me slightly of Funan’s look and feel; sans the size of course. It’s also home to the only cinema (Shaw Theatre’s of course) within the vicinity.

An outdoor sky terrace is also available for kids to hang around the slides and greenery. Parking is easy and lots are sufficient. The mall on overall is also easy to navigate and convenient to locate the stalls. Signs are well-placed to guide the new visitors too. Not much of a retail mall for fashion shoppers but well serves it purpose for the families living in the vicinity looking to get daily groceries done or sending their kids for educational classes.

An Old Mall Made Relevant

This newly renovated mall is bigger than the previous as the owners seemed to have acquired the old mall next to it. So it's almost twice the size of the old mall.

It has supermarkets, numerous restaurants, coffee shops, child and after-school care, schools for dancing and martial arts, etc. It also has a sheltered outdoor play area for kids. There is even an aquatics school ( and the pool of course) in the building! Best of all, the Shaw cinema is still there !

It's a mall that has been designed to be comfortable and complete. Only a matter of time before it becomes another bustling mall.
