I recently visited Fatehpur Sikri, and it was like stepping back in time to the days of the Mughal Empire. The architecture and layout of this ancient city are absolutely mesmerizing – every structure tells a story of Emperor Akbar's reign. From the grandeur of the Buland Darwaza to the intricate carvings in the Jama Masjid, each corner of this place has something fascinating to offer.

Walking through the Diwan-i-Khas, where Akbar would meet with scholars and nobles, I could almost feel the weight of history surrounding me. The blend of Persian, Islamic, and Hindu architectural elements in places like Panch Mahal was truly impressive. The Jodha Bai Palace, with its delicate latticework and airy courtyards, added a peaceful charm to the otherwise grandiose structures.

What struck me most was how Fatehpur Sikri, despite being abandoned after just a few years, remains incredibly well-preserved. However, the scorching sun can be intense, so I’d recommend visiting early in the morning or late afternoon. Overall, Fatehpur Sikri left me in awe and offered a glimpse into the artistry and vision of a bygone era. It’s definitely a must-visit for anyone interested in Indian history and architecture.

I rate this as one of the most beautiful architectural projects built using red sand stone which is generally considered as a soft material and may not be suitable for public buildings. However, it creates stunning visual effects combined with a feeling of silky smoothness. Once you get closer, you can see very interesting and intricate carvings reminiscent of the era.
This is a must visit place which offers a glimpse of the skills of the artisans of those days.

𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗵𝗽𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗸𝗿𝗶 is a fascinating historical site located near Agra in Uttar Pradesh, India. It was founded by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1571 and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire for about 14 years. The city is renowned for its stunning architecture, which blends Islamic, styles.

Very interesting place. For someone who loves sightseeing and history, it's a must visit. There is parking for your car at a central place. From there you can get guides to take you around the place. There is a small shopping area as well which sells souvenirs, clothes, handicrafts etc.

Golf carts take you to the fatehpur and sikhri forts. The whole tour is easily done in 2-3 hours leaving you enough time to visit other places. The roads are very neatly done and the experience is pleasant.

I loved this place! Akbar is my favourite emperor and this place fascinated me the most. We learn a lot about him here. The place he stayed in, the place he slept, the place where his queens slept and spent time is all here. So nice! You must definitely get a guide here because it's important you know the history and not just see the place. It's pretty cool and lovely.

A beautiful place turned into a commercial place where one is pushed so much for buying products that it’s uncomfortable.

They don’t let personal cars go to the monuments. Not because they can’t go, but because they want to earn money out of the parking, the golf carts that take you from parking to the gulistan cafe, then further golf carts to the monuments.

So much history is amidst these magnificent architecture. So much technical prowess at that time and the attention to detail.

The best part that the country was more secular then than what it is today.

Loved being there.

Beautiful architecture, heavily inspired by both Indian and Mughal influences. The guide gave us a full tour of the place, gave us insights on each of the structures present there, walked through the history and significance of each monument. It was a great experience. Would definitely recommend checking the place.

Good to experience the royal heritage of Mughals. They provide umbrellas for 50 rupees. The guide cost is 1800 rupees. Please avoid photographers inside the monument. Most of them will scam you. You can use your mobile phones for taking photos. It will take nearly 2 hours to complete seeing all the places inside the monument.

It’s a great place to get to know about the history of Akbar and his wives. Also visit
Jodhabai place when there. We went along with a guide to help understand the importance of every structure built there as there are quite a few.

nice Monument near Agra, definitely worth a stop. it is ok that you can only go there by an organised bus, while the difference in price for locals and foreigners is not. 1 star deducted because the entrance fee is too high for foreigners.

Nice place to visit near Agra, if you have time to please do visit. Massive and very beautiful historic structure. Wheelchair service is also available for elderly people.

The site itself is a wonderful visit. The architecture and monuments are excellent. A must visit place when visiting Agra.
However, when approaching Fatehpur Sikri, the touts tend to mislead visitors. Do not pay attention to them. Do find out the parking areas before you go there.

Highly avoidable now !!

Visiting this monument after 35 years and it is one place that has gone from good to really bad. I had really fond memories from my school trip and wanted my kids to see this place but really disappointed.

Most of the palaces were closed to the public. The place was not well maintained despite it being under the Archeological Survey of India.
The monuments neglect is showing up everywhere. There were hawkers everywhere trying to sell their stuff.

The guides here are totally useless. We made the mistake of taking a guide with the help of our cab driver to compound the problem further. These guides in Agra have inflated rates to ₹1800, but happily take ₹1000 for the tour. They are not even worth ₹500.

There is everything amazing about this place, especially the architecture. One can just imagine how great it was to be a king of whole of India. Please visit here with a guide they help your imagination of how king spent his days in here it really gives you goosebumps. Place is very neat and clean, there can be some issues with parking. Aged people can have little difficulty as it is a very big place to roam. Do visit with your family and praise its beauty.
