A Hidden Gem: The Old Lloyds Arms is Everything a Pub Should Be
The Old Lloyds Arms in Grimsby is a true gem that embodies everything a pub should be. Located right on Victoria Street in the town centre, it’s easy to walk by without a second glance, but that would be a mistake. Step inside, and you’ll find a pub that’s brimming with character, warmth, and a sense of community that’s all too rare these days.
At the heart of The Old Lloyds Arms is its incredible landlady, Toni, who has been the beating heart of this pub for over 30 years. Toni doesn’t just manage from behind the scenes; she’s right there in the thick of it, serving behind the bar, chatting with patrons, and making sure everyone feels at home. It’s this personal touch that makes such a difference—you’re not just another customer here; you’re part of the family.
The pub itself has a unique vibe, with music that leans on the heavier side but throws in a delightful mix of genres to keep everyone on their toes. Where else can you hear a metal anthem followed by ‘Barbie Girl’ or the Pokémon theme? It’s a soundtrack that reflects the eclectic, inclusive nature of the place.
What truly sets The Old Lloyds Arms apart, though, is its clientele. All walks of life come through these doors, creating a melting pot of personalities and stories. Whether you’re there for a quiet drink, the regular quiz nights, belting out your favorite tunes during karaoke, or catching a live band, there’s something for everyone. The regulars are some of the friendliest you’ll ever meet, making it impossible not to feel welcome.
If you’re in Grimsby and looking for a pub that’s the real deal, look no further than The Old Lloyds Arms. It’s a place where the spirit of the traditional British pub is alive and well—a community hub that’s as unpretentious as it is unforgettable. Don’t just walk by; step inside, stay awhile, and discover what makes this place so special.

I can't comment on the Food. But a price of John Smith's Bitter is £3.40 which is responsible.
Found this place by accident and I'm so impressed. This is a music bar with the wonderful Toni, who is amazing and so very welcoming and an absolute star!
I was looking for a traditional pub to have a pint and watch some football but the place was more a rock bar, playing really loud rock music (it was good music but tough to watch a football match this way), but I’m guessing this was more because it was a Friday evening and isn’t typical. It is also a much older crowd which is what confused me about the loud rock music. They do have Caffreys!!
One of the few remaining pubs in the town centre with a landlady that knows her stuff!
Always a friendly welcome, cracking beers, live music where possible and just good old fashioned service.
Łloyds has outlasted most local pubs and will continue to do so!
