Aspendos Theatre is a majestic place you definitely have to visit when staying at Antalya!

Myth has it that back in the time of the King, he was wondering who to give the hand of his daughter to. He asked that whoever builds the most beneficial building for the city, will marry his daughter. Two brothers get up to the challenge as they both are architects. One of them builds an aqueduct to bring water to the city. The other builds the beautiful Aspendos theatre you can admire here.

Since the King can’t decide which building is to win, he brings out his sword and splits his daughter into half. Then gives each half to each of the brothers.

Beautiful myth if you ask me.

A great historical place to see built by the Alexander the great.

Take 20-25 minutes to reach there from Antalya city center. Can take car, taxi or tour bus.

Ticket can be purchased on spot. Huge parking. Safe for kids. Clean toilets and food shop are there. After the visit, you can see the museum shop.

Take 40 - 50 minutes to complete the amphitheater visit. Photography is the must.

Amazing place,Roman theatre is the best of all. Definitely worth seeing, you can easily spend a couple hours there, it's a big archaeological site. We visited in November, nice cool weather and not many people.

It is such a nice place. It was part of a guide we booked. One of the guides sang for us to show the crazy acoustic of this theater. We were told really interesting information about it.
I can highly recommend.

Aspendos Theater is a breathtaking piece of ancient history! The remarkably well-preserved structure lets you feel the grandeur of Roman architecture up close. The acoustics are phenomenal—even whispers carry across the entire amphitheater. For any history lover, this place is an absolute must-visit!

Aspendos Ancient Theater is absolutely breathtaking! The sheer size and beauty of this ancient marvel left me in awe. It’s incredibly well-preserved, and you can easily imagine the performances that took place here thousands of years ago. The architectural detail is stunning, and the acoustics are still perfect – you can hear every sound from the stage even at the highest seats. The surrounding views are also gorgeous, adding to the magical atmosphere. Whether you're a history lover or just looking for something awe-inspiring to visit, Aspendos is a must-see. Truly one of the best-preserved Roman theaters in the world!

Visited on a mid-October warm day on a weekend, and no crowds, which made for great pictures! Aspendos is known for having the best-preserved theatre of antiquity, the Roman Theatre of Aspendos. It still holds concerts today and can seat 20,000 people. It also has the best preserved backdrop in all ancient theaters

The Aspendos theatre and the surrounding area are a must visit if you are in this part of the world. The theatre is so well preserved, amazingly well preserved, and absolutely beautiful. Walking up those stairs and taking in the view of theatre, your mind is filled with images of ancient performers plying their craft before an audience of thousands. And once you have taken in the theatre, you can walk up the hill behind it and visit a number of interesting ruins; there is the foundation to an ancient temple, a basilica, a market, and a stadium. While I was there, there were a number of archaeologists doing two different digs, history is being discovered before your eyes!!
