The place is big, trains are announced the way ahead of time. Don't be surprised if you find pigeons flying inside the station. You will find some homeless people but other than that the place is fine
Took a train to NYC from Union Station. The wasn’t a clear direction for the garage. During the holiday traffic was really bad. The station itself is very beautiful but everything else just average in my opinion.
An unexpected visit with a friend on a December Friday afternoon helped lift the holiday spirits.
The colossal Christmas wreaths out front sometimes make me think the arches were designed just for them.
The 2024 tree donated by Norway 🇳🇴 is so spectacular. There are very few places you can enjoy such a sight.

Dawn, the manager was very helpful with questions and allowed her team to preform their duties with the least amount of assistance. Tina is very lively and makes every rental experience a pleasure. Michelle is very reserved and speaks with authority with her customers. I wouldn’t want any other agents to assist in business if they can’t display poise as such. Great job team!!
It’s beautiful scenery in the main hall. There is a mall type food court. Upstairs at Union Starion was UNO pizzeria & Grill and Amber was an excellent server. I woulda gave her a much lager too if I had it to give. The food was delicious and the Mojito’s were perfect. Thank you Amber for making my dining experience today 11/27/2024 enjoyable.
Spent a Saturday in DC having arrived at noon on the MARC from Baltimore, and took the Amtrak to NYC around 5:30pm that evening. Found Union Station easy to navigate, and close to all the sights we wanted to see. I had a luggage bag that I was able to store at the station for just 10$ by showing them my evening Amtrak reservation, and the luggage storage counter was easy to find. The Postal Museum was of interest to us too and it is right next door.
It's a beautiful railway station with statues of knights in the inside hall. In the outside you have a view of the Capitol building. There is a huge bell right outside the station. Be careful of the rats near the bell though. Very photogenic!
It’s a well-maintained train station with a lot of restaurant and some shopping options. If you have a sweet tooth there’s a Läderach chocolate shop, on the higher end, on down to chocolate chip cookies from the McDonald’s. I like to get steps in while I’m waiting for the train, and there is plenty to see.
