This course just keeps going down the drain. Slow slow slow play with no help from rangers. Pro shop is useless and never the same people. It's a shame. Called to cancel a tee time and told I can't because it was made online and they force you to pre-pay so no I'm forced to lose 2 greens fee's $130. They would have filled the 2 spots in 5 minutes. Customer service is gone. This place use to be great. Off to Wayland or Sandy Burr much better run facilities.

It is not about the golf course itself. It is about the pro shop/tee time management person who has a snubby bad attitude.

I booked 18 holes for my wife and myself then I went to the bookings portal a day early to cancel due to the rainy weather forecast. But there is no cancellation option at the online portal. I called the pro shop then the old shop guy said unable to cancel due to a 24 hour policy (23 hour at the time called). Very disappointed!

Cheating #1
I asked where the 24-hour cancellation policy on the web portal he said there is. I was not able to find the info on the web site.

Cheating #2
The pro shop guy mentioned that rain tomorrow will not be serious so come out to play. I was told by the guy that there will be only a 10-15% chance of rain. I checked the detailed weather online after the call showing 55-65% not playable weather with my wife.

Cheating #3
The guy mentioned Golf Now and tried to redirect me for the booking cancellation that I wouldn't be able to cancel through there. My booking is not associated with Golf Now at all. I was upset all the time I spent to go through these efforts.

Where is the customer service?

I called my CC company and put the TEMP transaction in dispute. If you have a similar situation, please go through my route.

This review has nothing to do with the golf course but rather with the way the golf course handled my tee time reservation. I booked 18 holes for 09/14 at 1:00 p.m and was charged the full green fee at the time of booking. At 7:00 a.m. the morning of the tee time (09/14), I went to the bookings portal and noticed there was no option to cancel my tee time. Then I called the pro shop to cancel. I am told that I am unable to cancel because it is less than 24 hours before my tee time and that they're unable to refund my money.

My issue is not so much with the 24 hour cancellation policy but rather the fact that this policy is nowhere to be seen on the website or in the bookings portal. If I knew that was the policy at the time of bookings, I wouldn't have waited until under 24 hours to cancel. Also, I told the man at the pro-shop that my tee time was 6 hours from the time of the call and he still tried to redirect me to the bookings portal despite knowing very well that I wouldn't be able to cancel through there. I know this because he told me later in the call that there would be no option to cancel on the site because I'm outside the 24 hour cancellation window. Why would you tell me to look there to cancel then?

Please make the cancellation policy more clear on your website/booking portal for the sake of other people. And it would be a nice bonus if you could refund my credit card as well for the trouble. Thanks.

First time playing Butternut Farm. Pace of play was outstanding! Even though a wicked storm rolled through the night before conditions were mostly great. The layout is tight and hitting the fairway isn't easy but the design of the course is fun and challenging. Only the 10th hole was ridiculously difficult. The greens were in especially excellent shape! The speed of the greens was consistent throughout the entire 18 holes. My friend shot a 75!! That was fun to watch! Overall Butternut Farm is recommended if you are looking for a fun challenging round of golf. Definitely can recommend it.

We got married at Butternut on Saturday 8/3/24 and it was everything we dreamed of! beautiful day with family and friends that was seamless with the help of Toni and Hope. Working with you both was an absolute pleasure and we truly appreciate everything you did for us during our wedding planning process and the big day! We had absolutely no stress, and were able to enjoy. Thank you Toni and Hope! We love Butternut always and my husband will certainly be back to golf on the beautiful course!

It was my first time to play on the golf course. The golf course is beautiful and the fairway is very narrow. I was very happy to hit an eagle on the ninth hole (blue T tee shot). I will still want to come here next time.

Have played this course several times, and it’s truly special. The trees squeeze the fairway tight and can be punishing. The hole design is good and often requires strategic shots. The course condition is good overall, except many of the tee boxes are beat up and aren’t level, and some of the greens have bare patches in the back.
Very friendly staff all around and everything is very reasonably priced. Overall an exceptional course in the area.

Had a blast playing here. Course is challenging and makes you reconsider how you approach the game. Some super tight tee shots so club selection is important. Loved the drivable green on number 8. Condition was pretty good considering the deluge of rain the day before.

Clubhouse staff was super friendly and shared some pointers pre-round.

And the drive out to Stow was pleasant as well!

Can’t wait to come back!
