Great atmosphere, kind staff willing to help and listen to issues in the community.
I wish they had more money to pay like gas and electric bills not just water bills

Great place, that assist the community with great programs and great staff. From rental and utilities assistance to housing counseling services and HPAP, Greater Washington Urban League is here to help.
Ghetto Staff Members that don't return calls, lazy, and have nasty attitudes. The mission is to help people in an Urban setting and these incompetent staff members do none of those things. Needs a complete overhaul.
As a DC Government employee, using the GWUL has been the single worst experience of 2020 for me. Their complete lack of communication and accountability is staggering. The inability to contact me or my team effectively caused my settlement to be delayed on 7 separate accounts. I had to be homeless for a few days and live in my car while I waited for the GWUL to drag their feet and ask for documents they had recieved repeatedly. They clearly have no policies in effect that checks effectiveness.
If I had a chance, I would consider legal action against them. They made the experience THAT bad. Please only consider them if you are desperate and can consider homelessness while you wait for them to do their jobs. You would think that during a worldwide pandemic, those fortunate to have kept their jobs would value it. Or at the very least, use their position to bless others. You will not find compassion here.

Unable to reach anyone, and as a non profit that supposedly assists the community with housing GWUL is the only thing currently delaying my closing. No one will respond to emails and no one is available to receive my packet. 🥺 It’s been weeks. I expect more from the Districts non profits!
