Had a good dining experience here. We ordered sausage, potato soup, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Hearty dish options. All were delicious though!

The wait staff was very kind and when they brought our food to our table asked if we had tried these sausages before. We said we never had, so they told us the best way to eat them. Loved that they took the time to share that with us!

Service is great. Prior table booking is recommended. Beer is great as can be expected from a traditional Bavarian place. Food: we ordered pretzels with butter which were great, potatoes, fries for starters as usual. For main course we tried pork knuckle but wasn't the best, overly cooked.
Highly recommend if you want to go for beer.

First place we ate when arriving in Germany. A bit touristy, but food was yummy. There were what seemed like a good bit of locals, too.

My service was terrible. It took my waitress about 10 min to acknowledge me, then 5 more min to take my order and that was the last time I saw her. My food & water were served by a male server. 20 min go by and I still cannot find her, I had to flag down another waiter to box my food and pay my check, I have no idea where she went. I would have given them a higher rating if I had gotten better service.

My food was good, the atmosphere good. They were very buy on a Saturday afternoon.

Amazing local experience. Great beers, you can even see the new barrels rolling on to the tap. The pork knuckle is a must to try!!

Great restaurant service traditional Bavarian dishes. I was at checkpoint Charlie and was searching for a German restaurant nearby and Maximilians came up and the reviews were great so I thought I gave it a try, well I wasn't disappointed! Everything is perfect, the waiter was really friendly even on a really busy night and the food is delicious! I've ordered the pork knukle, it was great and even though I only ordered half pork knukle I still wasn't able to finish it! The Apple strudel was lovely too! The bill came to around £30 with a drink. Be prepared to queue though as it is very popular but well worth it!

Everything was awesome!

As a non-german person, this is definitely the best place I would recommend to anyone interested into traditional food.

We got good beers, dishes and a classy dessert to complete our meal.

The only part we didn’t like in the last was the overall service, even with a place not really crowded. We waited for a long time to get help, and even after saying that to a waiter, he said that it wasn’t his area, so he couldn’t serve us. Other people complained in German, so they rearranged someone to make it work, but we felt like this was a quick fix for that situation, because we still spent a lot of time to order or get any information about the menu.

Overall experience: totally worth it! Even with some things to improve or specific to our visit, a place we really enjoyed in Berlin.

We went here as tourists on our visit to Berlin in summer 2023. Really great selection of classic german foods. The place itself was very welcoming and the food was amazing. Would definitely go again.

We came twice whilst on a long weekend. The first night was amazing. 5 stars for all. Our Waiter was fantastic. The haxe is great. We loved it so much we came back.

Sadly, we had a different waiter who ruined the return experience. He was rude to the guests on the tables either side of us. We were ignored. We didn't get cutlery. We had to ask for things several times. Our wine arrived long after the main course. The other waiters luckily picked up the slack. When it came to the bill we didn't leave a tip this time and again the waiter was rude.

It's shuch a shame as we so loved our visit on Friday night, and the poor service spoilt our visit on Sunday.

Our waiter on Friday was great - our waiter on Sunday was not good and he lets down his colleagues.

So if you have poor sevice, complain - the other staff are great and the food os delicious.

We only popped in for some beer and apple strudel.
Both were delicious and presented well by attentive and friendly staff.
Other diners food smelt and looked delicious!
A great extensive beer menu too! 😃

The meatballs dish was really good, the mashed potatoes was delicious! But the pork knuckle wasn’t as good as we expected, it was a bit hard to chew and to take the meat off the bone. Thought it had a bit touristy ambience. Even though, we had a great time and the service was great, we loved the lady that served us, really nice!

Best Bavarian food, hands down by far. Despite items are largely fried nature, they are not greasy at all. So good that we came back consecutively for two days.

Top picks: pork knuckle and half duck.

Service could be patchy depending on where you are seated.

Delicious! One of the best restaurants in Berlin. Amazing food, friendly waiters. The price is average. I definitely advise you to try the strudel, it is excellent here.

I tried several traditional places in Berlin to taste the local gastronomy and without a doubt Maximilians was the best option. Its location is ideal, the quality of its food is indisputable and the atmosphere it has is very modern but maintaining the German translation. The attention of its staff is very careful and it does not matter what you ask for on the menu, everything is great. Definitely a must visit when in Berlin
