The Old Vic in Bristol is truly remarkable—a distinctive theater worth experiencing. One of a kind. However, I do wish they possessed the skill to craft a perfect mulled wine. I'd be delighted to share my secret recipe in exchange for the right reward. 😉 ❤️

Excellent guided tour of the theatre, including visits to the stage and backstage, auditoriums and atmospheric timber roof space, all accompanied by anecdotes and historical detail. Our guide was Sam Sayer who was very knowledgeable and engaged the group with charm and wit. We stayed in the theatre restaurant after the tour and enjoyed the best ever steak and ale pie!

Theatres have no automatic right to exist. Theirs is an ongoing battle for relevance, place, favour, success, critical and artistic renewal. That the Bristol Old Vic - the oldest continuously working theatre in the world - is winning its battle so successfully is due in no small part to its staging of works like "Choir Boys" which I saw this evening at its last performance.

"Choir Boys" was billed as a coming of age story about the sophomore year of five members of a choir in a preparatory school for black boys, but it was about so much more: tradition, fitting in, being left out, and the price and cost of our actions. Interspersed with exquisitely sung accapella spiritual songs, the stories, lives, and interactions of the five choir boys unfolded before my eyes in beautiful, moving, and emotionally engaging ways. The standard of acting and singing displayed was so high that I do not have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to do it justice. I will come to the Bristol Old Vic again, and I would journey anywhere to see this wonderful evening again

Beautiful architectural masterpiece. It was amazing and a great opportunity to see over 200 years of history still standing. Makes you think about those that came before you.

Great theatre, really enjoyed our viewing of choir boy (amazing voices!). This was our view from upper circle seats back row, great view for whole show!

I went to see an incredibly interesting and thought-provoking play about the race debate between James Baldwin and William Buckley Jr here. Great performance from the actors, and was followed by a really interesting discussion about the piece and views from the time period. I would recommend this piece in particular more to teenagers and adults as some of the language used is quite rude, but the theatre as a whole had great accessibility and was putting on a huge range of exciting performances at the time. 5 stars!

I love the Old Vic. All productions that we've seen there have been outstanding! And the bar is fab too!

Very nice atmosphere, staff were all friendly.

I really enjoyed how intimate the show was.

Also free refillable water station is always a bonus!

I had an absolutely fantastic time at The Bristol Old Vic. The venue is incredibly comfortable, exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the bar is a delightful spot to relax and enjoy yourself. The plays are nothing short of amazing and truly authentic. I recently saw "Cheeky Little Brown," and it was an outstanding experience. The intimate salon setting, comfortable seats, and especially the monologue left a lasting impression on me. I'm truly impressed and grateful for the opportunity to have been there!

Such helpful staff, superb customer service over the phone and onsite, venue really caters to accessibility needs. You can register your needs, which are accounted for when booking. The productions are fantastic too and the seats as comfortable as any other theatre I've been to. Love visiting

A really great theatre with lots of interesting performances throughout the year. The building itself is really old and pretty small with not much leg room, but that just makes it more intimate. They have a great cafe and bar too with lots of seating space

A lovely theatre in the centre of Bristol with great, modern facilities and a beautiful old auditorium (with comfy seats and decent air conditioning).

The bar and cafe opens onto King Street inviting people into the heart of the theatre. It’s a wonderfully open and exciting space with plenty of areas to sit, chat and watch the world go by. There are two theatre spaces and a beautiful hall which can be used for weddings and other events.

The programme of plays, comedians and speakers offers something for everyone. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Overall it is a jewel in the crown of Bristol’s cultural life and a wonderful asset for the city.
Jacqui Phillips (Three Crosses)
A theatre with great ambience and a beautiful Victorian setting. A relatively intimate theatre space. A few accessible seats for wheelchairs and less able bodied but book early to get them. Arrive early to beat the queues for a drink that you can also take with you into the auditorium.
Well worth a visit and enjoy the show too!
