Safari Grill

We were there for my birthday. 🎂 We were told to order before we came, so we wouldn't have to wait long upon arrival. Ince there, we observed that the owner was quite rude and belligerent towards her employees, and doing so in front of the customers. When we asked about our orders, she behaved uninterested and told us we should asked the server who was helping us as she was not 'there'.

The food was absolutely amazing. However, the owner's attitude ruined the experience. The staff deserves to be treated with greater dignity and respect.

Super disappointed. I ordered a chicken leg and beef tongue as well as two hibiscus drinks on Uber eats. First of all it took AGES to arrive as the restaurant was taking forever to make my food. Second of all they did not even include the two drinks I ordered, and the order was completely wrong. Instead of chicken and beef I only found goat in the bag.

I called them and the lady sounded half asleep and clueless like she had no idea what I was talking about. Then she asks me if I want to come pick up the food and drinks... What? The reason I order on Uber eats is so that I DID NOT have to come pick anything up!!! A colossal waste of time. I just hung up the phone and got a refund from Uber eats. I really tried my best to like these folks and this place but it's really hard to. They are not very respectful and always seem aloof. No customer service whatsoever. Strange experience. I was just more dumbfounded than anything else. Not even upset. Just confused that people could possibly be this daft 😂🫠🤔

I was met with a very strong death glare upon entering by a woman(the owner?) and asked what I was doing there, as if I had no right to be there.

I was picking up for Uber eats and somehow my small order took forever while other drivers were in and out. My customer at least knew of the reputation here and tipped me extra for the inconvenience. They also said the food didn't feel as hot as usual. So the woman purposely didn't give me the order when it was ready.

We didn't read any reviews until we were sitting at our table at a nice outdoor patio, and we want to add a positive take. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, food was pretty good and the atmosphere was relaxing and chill. It's an African restaurant, and most folks dining seemed to be from there, which is a good sign.

The owner of the property was extremely rude! We travelled from Quebec and parked to regroup with two other cars. We wanted to inform ourselves with the hotel across the street (if we were aloud to park at the hotel before check in). As we are parked inside this parking lot, the owner of the lot approached us asking what we were doing there and told us to leave his parking lot. We explained that we were regrouping and we weren’t from the area. He told us he didn’t care and to get off his private property!

Honestly this was very unexpected from a citizen of ottawa who, showed no compassion to strangers who needed assistance.

Stay away from this place. Not worth the stop.

I recently visited safari grill and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The service was extremely poor, and the employee who served us had a terrible attitude. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were met with unhappy faces and rude behavior. When we asked for a table, the employee rolled their eyes and gave us a dismissive response. Throughout the meal, we had to wait for long periods of time for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was cold and unappetizing.

To make matters worse, the employee seemed to be annoyed by our presence and was constantly sighing and making sarcastic remarks. They were unresponsive to our requests and seemed to be in a hurry to get us out of the restaurant. When we asked for the bill, we were met with a rude response and were charged extra for items we didn't order.

Overall, I would not recommend safari grill to anyone. The poor service and rude behavior of the employee made it an unpleasant experience and left a bad taste in our mouths. It's a shame because the food had the potential to be good, but the terrible service ruined the entire experience.

We ordered the chicken, the beef, the fish, and the spicy rice for take out.

Well... Turns out that we didn't get the beef. We realized that after we got home and took out everything. We tried calling the restaurant but it seems like they blocked our number or something because everytime it goes straight to voicemail. That is $25 that we will never get back again. It is really disappointing considering that I was really looking forward to trying the beef.

The chicken is really dry, and it tastes kind of bland. Costco chicken tastes juicier than this.

The fries were really soggy. But it is what it is, can't expect much from frozen fries.

The fish I cannot comment. I don't eat fish. However, my girlfriend said that it was ok.

The rice is really bland. We expected some spicy rice. What we got is dry and bland rice.

Overall, the food is passable, 3 stars at best. The lack of customer service is rather concerning though. I can't believe that a business would just send customer calls straight to voicemail. Therefore, I deducted a star.

I don't know why people were giving this 5 stars. Either they bought reviews or found people with no standards. There are better charcoal grills. I would suggest that you take your business elsewhere.

We had never tried African food and thought we would try gisafuriya. What an awesome flavourful stew, with just the perfect amount of spice. We ordered the small portion and have enough to feed two people another meal or two. The girls were so patient with us describing the dishes we inquired about and very accommodating. We are just passing through Ottawa, but if we lived near by this would be a regular stop for us. Thank you
