Savoy 16 + IMAX

Love this theater! I have never had a bad experience here and I am an avid moviegoer (1-2 movies a month). Expect to pay the same rates as any other local theater. IMAX is worth the upgraded purchase. Seating is comfortable and cozy. Staff is always helpful and the popcorn is always fresh. Refills are free and I recommend you buy a seasonal bucket, worth the purchase. 5 out of 5 would recommend!

I love Savoy 16 for its showing of throwback films that you can't get at AMC. I also love that they have diverse food options outside of popcorn! The seats are very comfortable and the IMAX screen is large. Highly recommend seeing a movie in IMAX here. The only complaint I have is that the concessions can be slow, I missed around 10-15 minutes of a movie because of concessions, (I ordered cheese fries,) but I have no other complaints about this theatre!

We saw two movies in the past two weeks..."Meg 2" and "Haunted Mansion.". The popcorn was hot, fresh, and delicious. A large drink is big, but over $7 for a drink is high. So the snacks and drinks are very expensive. There's no refills on the icees, which I wish they would change. Even Mattoon theater allows you to buy an Iced and then fill it up with soda pop. The seats are very nice quality and the large screens to watch the movie are very nice. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time. I saw a sign for Bargain Tuesdays for $5 you can see any movie at any time, so we will certainly go on Tuesdays whenever we can.

The theatre is comfortable and clean. The concessions stand is really inefficient, so expect to spend some time waiting if you want popcorn. We always buy tickets ahead and print at the kiosk, which goes pretty quickly. Overall, a fine place to watch a movie.

Planned to spend the day on a Barbenheimer double feature. 11am Oppenheimer IMAX showing opening weekend. It’s now 30 minutes after showtime and the theater is full of people and no communication from staff about why the film hasn’t started. The staff at concessions is completely overwhelmed and can only say “this stuff happens all the time”. The manager is completely absent.

And people wonder why theaters are losing customers to streaming. 🫤

Loved the recliners and the temperature of the theater on a super hot July day! We order food and drinks and honestly, their bacon cheese fries are so good! 10/10 Highly recommend

Edit: (July 5,2023) The general manager reached out to me to assure me that this was unacceptable behavior for their staff and was providing training and appropriate follow-up to the incident. I was pleased to hear that they were taking the situation seriously and that they have reached out to the customer who had been so badly treated. Thank you.

I am writing a 1st review about Savoy 16 in Savoy because I was shocked at how the staff were treating a customer. Tonight (June 9, 2023 at about 7:20pm) a woman came out of the theater to make a complaint about the screen being so dark she couldn’t see the movie and asked for her money to be refunded. I was walking up from behind her and overheard the conversation with the manager. It had caught my attention because the manager, who was facing me, was clearly agitated and being rude. I walked past, but waited on the periphery, because there were three employees (all clearly not happy) ganged up against the one woman. The manager was becoming more and more verbally aggressive (even through the woman was maintaining her composure), so I walked over to stand next to the woman, to provide moral support. Throughout the confrontation, the woman was direct, polite, and respectful. The staff were not. Ironically, they were accusing her of being rude, and threatened her with calling the police. I gave the woman my name and number in case she needed my testimony and suggested she telephone a higher level of management for resolution. I walked with her away from the staff, because I could see she was shaken. What a horrible example of customer service. The theater has lost more than one customer today.

We enjoyed the luxury studio to watch the Little Mermaid this evening. The chairs were roomy, reclining, and comfortable. I must say that the customer service at this theater is EXCELLENT! Some very disrespectful customers in the theater with us were promptly and quietly removed by theater staff and those who finished the film were given complementary movie vouchers for our inconvenience. Absolutely thrilled with our experience and we will continue to watch our movies at Savoy 16 + IMAX!
