I had planned on seeing the wall after a planned tour of the Tower of London but the wall is right outside one of the Tower Hill underground exits, so I was able to see it on my way. It's free!! If you have an eye for building, you can see the multiple layers built over the years.

An ancient wall built by the Roman’s which was later used to defend the castle. Right now you can only see part of the ruins.

The London Wall was the defensive wall first built by the Romans around Londinium, their strategically important port town on the River Thames in what is now London. Built in the late 2nd or early 3rd century. Until the later Middle Ages, the wall defined the boundaries of the City of London.

This is a definite 3 on a scale of 1 to 5 for ancient Roman walls. If you've never seen an ancient Roman wall, this is indeed a wall. But it is not terribly impressive. It is a good example of a long-gone era when walls were an effective means of fortification.
