Stoped by because we like to see all the national historic landmarks listed in our passport book. The building has two rooms. A gift shop and a very small auditorium. The auditorium has about 40 seats. They have a ranger talk at at 10:00 am and a live Jazz performance at 2:00 pm. We missed the ranger talk at 10:00am but made the 2:00 pm jazz performance.
Wow. It was great. We listened to Wendell and Caroline Brunious perform and It was amazing. They mixed New Orleans music history with a great Jazz performance. I don’t normally listen to jazz but for the hour they performed I was completely entertained.
Their performance was 5 stars but the rest of the landmark was very average. However the show is a must when in New Orleans and it is free.

Just a few brochures, small gift shop, and a room with seats and a stage. Not much else. If you like Jazz, or if you just want to get your passport stamp like me, stop in. Otherwise not really worth a visit
I'm obsessed with National Park sites. I visited more than 60 sites in 2021 alone so I think I can gauge whether or not something is a good NP site.
As of 2/5/2022, this Jazz Historical Park is currently sharing a visitor center with the Jean Lafitte French Quarter visitor center. I'm not sure if it's always going to be this way or not, but currently, if there aren't performers scheduled during your visit, there is only a park video and a junior ranger booklet to do. The video is shown in what looks like a music classroom that I believe is the same room that hosts performances.
Is this building somehow related to jazz other than being in the French Quarter? I have no idea. There was only one ranger and she was dealing with an overflowing bathroom issue while running the park shop and handing out junior ranger books.
Don't bother visiting this park unless there is for sure going to be a performance scheduled, otherwise there isn't much in terms of a historical park for you to check out.

Who knew we have a wonderful national park dedicated to Jazz. This is the only NP dedicated to music and all rangers are musicians. They do an excellent job of education on Jazz to the public. There is an active schedule of programs. We happened to see Richard "Piano" Scott spend an hour talking and demonstrating the differences in types of music. He was a crowd please and we all learned something. Make sure you check their event calendar.
Great introduction to the city's jazz history. Check the schedule for one of the visitor's center's and museum's live interactive events. Visitor center is located in the French Market.
Small. But what a unique experience. I would highly recommend to visit on Saturdays, noon to 1 PM. They have classes for kids (adults can join in as well) that teaches the roots of the Jazz music. I really enjoyed it. The instructor was pretty knowledgeable.
It would have received 5 stars, but the place is so small. There’s a front counter and then a room with a stage. However, I was able to see a complimentary jazz performance performed by a park ranger and a piano accompaniment. It’s was very nice and informative. Make sure to check the information sheet and try and catch a performance!
