Great place to launch your boat or kayak into little Narragansett bay with hiking and mountain biking trails right before the boat launch. Quite serene.
Large park with numerous trails . It was in February and overcast . I bet it's down right beautiful in spring and summer . No mosquitoes though in February lol
What a beautiful place to go for a walk. I only discovered this place this winter so I have not had an opportunity to visit in the spring and summer when I'm sure the wildlife is plentiful. Even in winter I've enjoyed the many paths and trails that meander past lovely views of reeds, marshes and ocean beyond and the wooded paths that take you past dotted stone walls and ruins of long forgotten structures.
Great walk with lots to see and spectacular views that you must see. Can be a little buggy so bring some bug spray. Also keep your gps device to stay on track.
Very beautiful this time of year. There are plenty of trails to walk or bike on. There is also a pretty big boat launch with plenty of parking for your vehicle and trailer. I personally like going early in the morning or in the evening. That's when it is more alive with wildlife.
Only hiked about 4 miles worth of the trails today, but it was absolutely gorgeous. Fragrant wildflowers throughout the walk and birds everywhere. Bring you camera or binoculars. Definitely going back to explore more of the trails and hopefully make it out to the actual barn island.
What a gorgeous and serene place, it was exactly what I was hoping for. I stuck to the trails that ran closest to the LI Sound for my first trek. Took many photos. I wish I had brought binoculars as there were many birds to be seen along the way. Such beautiful scenery.
Beautiful hike through the marsh. We saw a lot of wildlife and pretty wildflowers during our mid-June visit. We saw hardly any other people during our hike. Recommend doing the offshoot trail to the cemetery dating from the 1600's. We continued on the red blaze trail which is wooded and shaded (unlike the marsh). The hike through the woods was nice but not as exciting as the marsh area, which is beautiful. There is also a path from the west side if the parking lot to a pretty, small beach, that was not in alltrails or our guidebook. There are interpretive signs about marsh ecosystems. Great place for kids.
