One of my favorite parks in the city, hands down. The vibes are ALWAYS immaculate and In the summer you can always find people and fun good times there. A must see park if you want to just walk through, chill and eat your lunch or meet new interesting people.
Great park. When we went there was a street fair with lots of different food, art, and merchandise vendors. Plus you can see a filming location from the movie "I am Legend". Overall it was well worth the visit.
Washington Square Park is a hustling and bustling park and a must-see spot in NYC, neighboring NYU on one side. The park is full of artists selling their art, people playing chess, food carts, live music, skateboarders, locals and tourists! It has shady areas, a fountain and the famous Washington Square arch. This arch is beautiful day and night. Great place to hang out, snap pictures, support local artists. If you aim just right, you can get a picture of the Empire State Building through the Arch from one direction, and the One World Trade Center from the other direction.
Wonderful park for the kids to play in on a hot summer day. We let them run through the fountain, although it didn't look like the water was filtered-- it looked kinda green. We were a little worried, but two days later and the boys are fine-- just don't let your little ones drink from it.
Highly recommended to hang out or pass time with friends. Great vibes at this park. There was a reasonably sized crowd with people singing, dancing, smoking, talking etc.
I only visited at night and don't recommend taking kids after dark. 😃

Lovely and buzzing park with several chess tables encouraging people to bring their own pieces and play others passing by. Many benches to sit and enjoy the natural surroundings. I got a really nice vibe from this park.
Great park for people watching. Real cross section of the community walking around enjoying the day. When I was there, there was music, people writing poetry etc. Would probably avoid at night as it gets a bit dodgy. Soho area nearby has loads of restaurants and takeouts, comedy clubs and jazz bars. Could easily spend a day walking around
If you’re a fan of FRIENDS you definitely know this place and I guarantee you it is a great one. Don’t miss it if you’re in NY.
Full of nice plants, trees and animals. If you’re lucky maybe you can catch a nice concert. If you’re a dog lover you will love the amount and variety of dogs.

Having seen this park for 10 seasons of Friends, we could not resist visiting this iconic spot. At 11pm, this was absolutely flooded and lively with music and a rather young crowd. The fountain is a romantic spot to hug your partner on the steps and just relax. There are ice cream trucks late in the night and you will never go hungry here no matter what time it is. We LOVED this park and strongly recommend stopping by here.
