A really immersive experience! Super accessible, easy parking for a really nice price right next door and they show the big movies while also showing some nice more cultural ones. Genuinely recommend it!
Wenn ich die Wahl habe zwischen Autokino und normalem Kino, würde ich mich jederzeit für das Autokino entscheiden. Es hat einfach Stil. Wir fahren seit 20 Jahren ins Autokino Essen und es ist immer wieder schön. Tolle Atmosphäre, sehr nette Mitarbeiter und leckeres Essen. Ob im Auto oder mit Klappstühlen vorm Auto, es ist immer ein Erlebnis.
Für uns auch sehr wichtig: Der Hund darf mit! Der freut sich natürlich immer, wenn er dabei sein darf und nicht zu Hause bleiben muss.

Ich empfehle sehr die Fast and Furious Autotreffen mega dort.
Auch wenn zuletzt der Film nicht ganz so gut war, muss ich die Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft des Personals dort lobend erwähnen. Der Service stimmt und es einfach ein Erlebnis Autokino zu genießen.

Für Kinoliebhaber mal was anderes. Hat alles super funktioniert und der Service vor Ort ist super. Ob Heizungen, Starthilfe oder planen für Scheinwerfer. Alles wird dort gestellt und kann ausgeliehen werden. Technisch hat auch alles super geklappt, nur das Wetter kann niemand beeinflussen ;) bei Regen eher weniger zu empfehlen.

I visited this cinema with my friends to watch a movie in screen 4. The movie was in black and white and is renowned for its excellent background music, which is truly the essence of the film. However, the screen was not in the best condition, as there was a noticeable stain on it. The sound system was not at all satisfactory, as it was challenging to distinguish the individual instruments clearly. When the volume increased, the sound became a chaotic mix of noises. The seats were acceptable but not particularly remarkable. I would hesitate to choose the same screen again for future movie viewings. On a positive note, the staff members were courteous and the restrooms were well-maintained. In summary, I believe it is high time for the cinema to enhance their sound system and invest in a new screen.
Cheap. But they are constantly understaffed. We have been here more than 10 times and its always full. Takes so long to get your food. Better plan to be there 40 minutes before the movie starts!
it’s definitely special to watch a movie in this cinema, only the audio could be improved at times, but maybe that’s the trade off when watching in the largest cinema Germany’s.
love the atmosphere, while it’s clearly not a high end cinema, it’s affordable and I’ve never had any bad experiences
Sehr schönes Theatr. Allerdings nicht einfach Parkplatz zu finden.
Sehr angenehm an jeder Sitzposition. Jedenfalls hinten gab es viel Beinfreiheit. Am Verkaufsstand musste man lange warten, da das Kino voll war. Die Eintrittskarten sind im Preis wohl individuell je nach Veranstaltung, aber meine fand ich persönlich für mein Budget zu teuer. Standort erstklassig nah am Essener HBF.

Went there to watch a movie and they screened just the second half of the film. Indian movies usually have an interval, so the film starts slow and takes time to pick up momentum again. Not so easy to make out that it isn't the starting. It was just a little confusing for everybody. At the end of the movie, they said there was a technical error and they "do not even have" the first part!!
Doesn't matter if they give a refund or some free tickets in return. How do you make up for the loss of time, the thrill of watching a film in the theatre? Who wants to go all the way again to watch the first half when the full plot of the film is known?
And oh, they don't even have enough popcorn for the fifty odd people who come to the cinema theatre, all screens included.

Ein tolles, "altes" Kino mit schöner Atmosphäre! Die neue Bestuhlung (u.a.) ist super!!!

1 mal dort gewesen war schon mega das Erlebnis wird auch nicht das letzte mal gewesen sein und der ram 1500 hat auch durchgehalten mit der Batterie 😅🤟
Die Erfahrung muss jeder mal gemacht haben. Das Personal ist super nett, Die Essensauswahl ist super. Preis/Leistung ist spitze. Ich kann nichts negatives sagen.
Es ist ein tolles Erlebnis, hier einen Film zu sehen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut und es gibt für kleines Geld Snacks und Getränke vor Ort zu kaufen. Die Leinwand ist groß und gut sichtbar, der Sound über die kostenlos auszuleihende Box nicht zu bemängeln. Schade ist, dass manche Fahrer dauernd ihr Licht anmachen, was die Atmosphäre sehr stört. Hier kann natürlich der Betreiber nichts für, trotzdem wäre es schön, wenn man solche Störer auf ihr Verhalten aufmerksam machen könnte.

L'Astra Theater est un endroit extraordinaire pour une soirée cinéma ! L'ambiance rétro, les sièges confortables et l'écran immense créent une expérience cinématographique exceptionnelle. J'adore la programmation variée de films, de classiques aux derniers blockbusters. C'est le lieu idéal pour les amoureux du cinéma. 🎥🍿👏
Immer wieder ein tolles Erlebnis. Gestern erst den Eltern ein Stück Ihrer Jugend zurück gebracht und mit einem Besuch hier überrascht. Beide waren total begeistert!

Das ist schon ein Erlebnis und völlig anders als normales Kino. Liegt aber wohl auch am Auto und dass wir die Blues Brothers geschaut haben :)
Ich hoffe ihr zeigt in Zukunft noch weitere Klassiker, ich hätte da ein paar Ideen!

Wir haben uns dort zum 1.ten CCC (Classic Carsten Cinema) getroffen. Es waren ca. 60-80 Oldtimer dort, zu "Benzingesprächen" und Fahrzeuge bestaunen.
Die Preise für Snacks und Getränke waren sogar sehr moderat, und das Personal sehr freundlich.
Nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit wurde noch ein Roadmovie gezeigt.
Leider versagte die Filmtechnik...und wir konnten den Film nicht bis zum Ende sehen.
Bei der Ausfahrt wurden als "Entschädigung " Freikarten verteilt. Das fand ich echt korrekt.
Freue mich schon auf die nächste Veranstaltung dieser Art.

Kinoflair pur.
Es war ein wirklich schönes Ambiente, es hat alles reibungslos funktioniert mit den Tickets und der Platzsuche. Ich würde jedem allerdings raten wirklich 30-45min eher da zu sein wenn man wirklich gute Plätze will. Dazu sollte man sein essen vielleicht im voraus bestellen, wenn man weiß was man will, da man schon lange warten muss bei so vielen Gästen. Die Toiletten vor Ort waren auch sehr sauber und ausreichend vorhanden. Ich kann es nur jedem weiterempfehlen.
It's a huge Theatre. Watched Oppenheimer here. Couldn't ask for more. Overall a good experience. Why 3 stars? Because, one of the major aspects of a Theatre is the quality of sound. The audio wasn't loud enough. It might be different for other shows/movies. But, for Oppenheimer, it clearly didn't meet the expectations!
Films in the original version usually come in Kino 3. But I'm unimpressed with the sound system in this hall. I could hear the sound and all the bass, but could never feel it. It was lacking the immersive experience. Also the screen was disappointing. A long vertical line was visible in the center, something like discoloration or unevenness. But the projection was good, so was the seating.

This was my third visit to this elegant, old style cinema to see some top rate rock. This time I had returned to experience the legendary Steve Hackett (former Genesis guitarist) and his band as they played fantastic music, some going back over 50 years. The smallish stage is not conducive to large spectacular light shows but the acoustics are ideal for genuine music lovers. The seats are cinema style so comfortable with a decent amount of leg room. The bar serves decent drinks as well.
I had parked nearby (3 minutes walk) in one of the many multi story car parks here in the centre of Essen.
All in all another great evening of nostalgic entertainment in a lovely venue.

Sehr schönes kleines Programmkino. 2023 als Teil des Snowdance Filmfestivals besucht. Top moderiert mit Ansprache und Schluss/Diskussion mit dem Regisseur. Grosses Lob für die sehr gelungene Veranstaltung. Freuen uns auf 2024.
I must say the screen and the sound quality was top notch. The seating for a normal one was pretty comfortable. The only place where I found it costly was with the eatables they offer, their menu was too costly and I was bit off by that. The rest, be it the commute to the place or its visibility is too simple, once you get off the U Bahn station and take the exit B (Ausgang B) and step outside, you will find the cinemas onto your right.

It's the best place to watch the latest movies.. 3D of course! On weekends is normaly busy, my advice is to pay for your tickets online to avoid queuing up. Ich habe ein Vorschlag - es ist besser wenn Sie online Ticket kaufen. Happy New Year to everyone.

Classy and charming original theater! Not sure why people keep rushing over to Cinemaxx when they've got this beauty only a few blocks away. Tickets are reasonably priced, concessions much cheaper (and better!) than at Cinemaxx. A lot of movies are shown in the original version with subtitles. Make sure to get a seat up on the balcony!

Love that they show original version. The only downside is that there's no AC in the theater, so it got rather hot and stuff an hour in. Good thing I picked up a flyer to use as a fan.
