Pennypack Park

It's my hiking group's favorite trail to go for a long hike when we go to Philly area. But some parts of the trail can be very muddy after some rains.

The trails runs mostly along the Pennypack Creek, which can cause flooding after heavy rains. And there are a lot of parking lots along the trail. Many more f them have picnic areas. Some have pavilions. They are also good places to go for water fun during summer.

It is located right across the road to River Thames and the Riverboat dock. It was not too crowded when we were there but I didn't get my hot water and when the utensils were brought over, the waitress didn't even bring enough napkins for each of us. Outdoor seatings are quite crowded. Food was pretty good though.

I had Poached Eggs, which was very soft as I requested. My husband had a steak and egg, of which the steak was a very generous piece! We all enjoyed our food.

But when it's sunny, sitting by the window is quite hot even when it's still quite chilly outside.

Would recommend it.
Ample parking here with close access to trails, playground, community gardens and picnic pavilions. Hiking trails by the playground side leads you to the bridge on Rancocas Creek and connects thru the Greenway /Burlington County Trail to Amico Island (1.8 miles from the bridge).

It's a beautiful park with meadows, small and large dog parks, playgrounds, workout equipments, lots of pavilions and picnic tables, benches along the trails, birdwatching overlooks...Trails can loop around the park for miles and connect to Amico Island Park if you want a longer hike along Rancocas Creek Greenway for water views. It's a perfect place for family outdoor activities.

Today I tried to walk from here to Amico Island. But after I passed thru the second bridge along roadside and some streets, where the scene was not pleasant, I gave up and turned back to Pennington Park. I would suggest hiking within the park, farthest to the first bridge if you want a quiet and peaceful walk.
