Crown Shy

starting with what I loved- the cocktails were incredible… get the melona milk punch. it’s one of my favorite cocktails now in the city! I also loved their bread service- we went during white truffle season, so we got an amazing gnocchi with a generous serving of white truffle. we also got a 30 dry aged ribeye on the specials menu that came with salad and potatoes- it was excellent (for some reason though, they wouldn’t let us have it cooked medium rare, only medium). the toffee sticky pudding was also very good, but I didn’t love the sorbet that came with it.
the ambiance and vibe of crown shy is very fun… not stuffy at all and the music was so good. I would come back for a drink and snack at the bar! the least favorite part of our experience was the service- there was so much confusion around the drinks and we were all given the wrong drink multiple times. It was forgivable, but it happened more than once during our visit, and it was clear to even us which drink was correct and which one was wrong, based on the garnish. For a michelin restaurant, we expected more from the service.

Jia Dim Sum

when i tell you jia BLEW my mind in terms of what dim sum can be- it was absolutely stunning… each and every dish was a masterpiece both visually and flavor wise. there was not a single item that wasn’t perfect… the hot and sour soup is really what my dreams are made of (they put crispy rice on top, which is genius). the rice rolls and the soup dumplings are amazing… highly recommend too. the peking duck was also out of this world.. the flavor was spot on and crispy.
the service and ambiance were beautiful- totally unassuming from the outside, but when you enter, it’s a perfect, almost scandinavian dining room. every staff that we interacted with were so friendly and welcoming. I cannot this recommend jia enough & will try to come back as soon as possible (worth the trip from Manhattan)!

Cafe Turkiye Grill Restaurant

amazing turkish food with such a wide array of options and everything is truly worth trying. it’s best to go with a large group, because you can try more platters. we got the mezze platter, which has all the tips and turkish bread. we also got the mixed grill platter, which has a variety of meat skewers, which all were flavorful and delicious…my only comment is that i wish there was beef included in the mixed grill platter. the service was also awesome- the restaurant wasn’t crowded, so the waitress gave us a lot of attention and was very friendly. definitely recommend / will be back!
Menkoi Sato

WOW the flavor of this ramen is insane AND it was chicken, not pork. this is an amazing bowl of ramen- on par with ramen in japan. we got the spicy shoyu and the classic shoyu… both were excellent! the noodles were perfectly springy & chewy and the broth was rich and soul-warming. the egg was stellar- definitely worth adding on. I was blown away by this ramen, and definitely will be back! This has become of my new favorite ramen spots in the city.
mochii

this is some of the best mochi I’ve ever had! we got the classic skewer and the hot chrysanthemum soup mochi, and both were amazing. I actually think the soup mochi was even better than the ice cream, because it reminded me of eating tangyuan when I was little (it is a tangyuan filled with black sesame btw). I will say the atmosphere is definitely a hole in the wall vibe- you can see the kitchen where they are making the mochi for better or worse, but that’s the LES experience. the service is lackluster (we literally heard the employees fighting in the back while we were waiting for our food), but I’m okay with that for a dessert place. I would definitely recommend coming here for dessert!
