The National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, is an absolute treasure, a sentiment echoed by those fortunate enough to visit frequently, such as a former resident of nearby Chinatown. With its majestic architecture that beautifully complements the awe-inspiring art within, the museum offers an ever-evolving experience that captivates and educates. The accessibility of the gallery, being a stone's throw from the vibrant neighborhood of Chinatown, allows for regular visits, turning an ordinary week into one filled with cultural enrichment and inspiration. French Truck has been one of my go-to spots for good coffee options as well as a chill space to work remotely. The magazine location near the bridge doesn’t get too busy, so it’s usually easy to find a seat. But some of the other locations can get pretty packed.

Another one of my favorite coffee shops and bistros locally. What’s not to love: good coffee offerings, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and tons of sweets to choose from. I really enjoy working remotely here as well. It can get very busy, so noise levels and seat availability is a factor. But I find that really early in the morning and later in the afternoon tends to be relatively slower than lunch time.

Also the yogurt parfait is one of my favorite items on the menu!
