Love obscure beer and drinking alone or sitting in silence with fellow beings?
Great to meet one friend, catch up and go to a main spot.
Loud talking is LOUDLY shushed and interrupts quiet conversations. I never noticed loud conversations until the bartender shushed them.
It’s a gimmick.
If customers were talking like they were in _Die Hard With A Vengeance_, shush away. The shushing feels random.
Beer selection has always had something new.
Go with one, two friends and try a few beers.
Lots of options nearby.

Busy. It’s right by the Bedford L exit. And overpriced for the same reason.
Service is usually quick and they are open late.
Cheaper places just a few minutes away if it’s early in the evening.

Beautiful nook in Greenpoint.
A great picnic destination (can be crowded but it’s almost always possible to find a bench); neat detour during a stroll through the neighborhood; perfect for views from walkways built out into the River of Manhattan’s skyline and the Williamsburg Bridge.
Happened on a summer film series tonight.

American Museum of Natural History

A museum continually adapting. The Natural History beautifully renovated the planetarium 20 years ago. It was cool to go as a kid but getting run down and the Rose Center was a flying-car level upgrade.
The Gilder Center is this generation’s renovation. It’s an architecturally engaging space; invites watching and reading about exhibits. A real level up for drawing visitors into exhibits.
The museum seems conscious of its history and maintains itself as an exhibition of how nature has been exhibited. Its famous dioramas are maintained very well. That they don’t feel out of place in a modern science museum is an achievement.
The Natural History and (across the park) the Met are great to take kids and people in town. They’re great to wander through and have a moment; remember visits as a kid; finding something new.
TIP: look up tickets online and visit on a weekday.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

One of the best museums in the world.
It’s possible for a visitor to spend a day here and have seen something beautiful in a beautiful place. Two days would probably make it feel like it does to me. A familiar, beautiful place. Probably my favorite place to spend time in the City.
It’s quiet and crowded. Special exhibitions are often packed but worth it (show up early).
How kids engage the Met is often something joyful to see.
TIP: if you visit with a local, they can buy tickets for a reduced price. Weekends and Friday evenings are crowded.
