I like this place. If you’re worried about the prices then don’t come. If you identify as native sobo, and you’re salty, don’t do it either.

I like the ambience, the folks working there and hanging out in a posh spot that I’ve known my whole life.

Some folks might be turned off by the gentrification, but this place would’ve been passed over and died without it.

I’m not giving this bridge 5 stars because of the shape it’s in or it’s functionality, it’s for the memories it brings back! I had a lot of adventures as a kid in the 80’s that started at Swans Park with this bridge, including the impending doom a kid felt (at the height of Stand By Me’s popularity!) crossing over into Westport and imagining the horrors ahead and below us! I’ve been down here a few times lately and you can see the silhouettes of fish that dive it six feet long. Were they always there when we were kids? What else is in that murky, silty trash catch-all buddy of water?
