To be honest I am still not sure what this place is but it’s well worth a visit. A museum? A monument? The worlds most impressive viewing platform? I’ve no idea but it’s really good. The architecture is simply amazing and the view stunning. There is also a decent cafe and a viewing lift to the roof (costs to do this). Entry is free. All in all well worth a visit when in Rome.
This was a bit of a find. We we sitting down on a wall near the Roman Forum and just saw this Basilica and thoughts we’d visit. Firstly there is a really nice courtyard inside. Inside there is a room with a model of a Roman scene. The Basilica itself is beautiful with a fabulous frieze on the ceiling. Well worth a visit.
Summary - the castle is good but it's really about the amazing views you get over Lisbon from the area outside of the castle. They are truly amazing and worth the entry fee on its own.

There is an interesting (ish) museum too and the castle is standing but there is nothing inside. Oh and there is the obligatory expensive cafe.

Just be careful is you have a Lisbon card. Kids that are 14 and over have the pay even if they have the card so it's a bit of a waste having it. To be honest we had this a few times so I am not sure that the Lisbon card is worth it unless you really really hit the museums.
Summary - now this was an odd but amazing place. Firstly the queue to get in was awful. It took and hour in the blazing sun with no shade.

However inside was cool, quiet and extremely interesting. The architecture is fabulous and it's in really good condition. There is no shop! No fridge magnet!! Yikes!

Oh. The church next door is a completely separate place which means another queue. It's not worth more than 15 mins.
Summary - amazing view point with stunning views of Lisbon. That's it's. Nothing more.

Oh. It's a long way up. Get the tram or one of the many guided tour tuktuk things.
