After eating at a string of disappointing (highly rated) restaurants in DC, we dined at Anju and were pleasantly surprised! The food was really good, flavourful and authentic. Only negative point was that panchans (side dishes is kimchi) aren’t free which is very much frowned upon in Korean culture.
We ordered the fried chicken and mandu to start, both were really tasty and generous portions. Also got a sashimi dish appetizer which was just ok. The beef ssam, palace ddukbokgi, and chicken jajangbap as mains. Beef ssam and jajangbap were very good and would probably order again if I come back.
Would definitely recommend if you’re in DC and looking for Korean food and something different and tasty!

Really really bad service for a Michelin star spot. I tried to get a drink for 20min while sitting at the bar for a tasting menu…. Bartender lady was dismissive towards us.
Food was average to mediocre and LUKE WARM. Grits (provided sides) had zero flavor and lamb was super fatty. Basically so fatty that I could not eat over half of it. Definitely not deserving of Michelin star and I’m taking it off my list of places for DC. The martini was not good at all either. Epic fail, overall disappointing experience and
waste of money… I was super disappointed particularly as I had convinced two friends to join me and was a hassle to get a reservation. Don’t get that given taste/service
I’m giving it two starts versus one because the hostess was nice and ambiance was nice, nothing else was good about this place

Generous portions and well priced, except for the deviled eggs which are a bit of a rip off ($19!!! But extra $3 premium of caviar was alright).
The crispy sushi rice was very delicious as was the tempura shrimp. The sea bass and crab pasta were quite good but thought the halibut was a bit dry so would skip that.
Overall, a good experience and can see why this is a NYC staple!

My expectations when coming to this place was that it’s just a place for people watching, overpriced menu items and average food/drinks. However I was pleasantly surprised and food turned out to be pretty good. Blue crab sushi, crab cakes and curly fries were amazing!

Great pasta, super quick service, and fantastic wine selection so can’t go wrong! We shared 3 dishes but the veal was our favorite. Desserts were fantastic too. Solid location as well
