FOOD BAZAAR

I used to like Food Bazaar, but my experience has been declining over the years. 1. It's clear some of the prepacked beef being sold was not as fresh as the dates would indicate. I bought t-bone steak with the sell-by day +6 days. There were spots that were looking a bit gray, but I bought it anyway trusting the date. Sure enough, 3 days later, the meat went rancid even when it was stored in the coldest section of my fridge. Sadly, this isn't the first time I've experienced problem with freshness. Fool me twice, shame on me. 2. Have you looked inside their dry-age meat fridge? I saw meats with two months of aging according to their date stamps. Who sells beef that has been dry-aged for 60 days? They're not even paying attention. 3. I do not like how they started pre-packaging things like ginger in large bags. I don't need 2lb bag of fresh ginger. Just a few. Also, they should put some scales by produce sections so customers can weigh what they're buying. 4. Overuse of their 'Sale' strategy just isn't doing it for me. I understand it sometimes help to boost sales, but if you're a cross shopper at other places, you know these 'deals' aren't really deals.
I do like the selection, cleanliness, and staffing, but I'm slowly starting to lose confidence and trust in this place.

Pros: Relatively inexpensive. Prompt service. Good portion. They've been around for a while.
Cons: Quality of tuna and fluke is very low. Tuna is sinewy, pink (i.e. treated with gas), and flavorless. Same can be said about fluke, which is rubbery, tasteless, and actually quite 'earthy'. It's a shame because these are two most commonly found sashimi cuts at any sushi restaurant.
The quality is probably fine if you wanted heavily flavored rolls, but if you want to enjoy taste of fish, I would recommend spending more money at other places.

The best gallery I’ve visited in a while. The door was slightly cracked open, inviting you to come in. Many galleries in the city are visitor hostile in subtle ways. This place is the complete opposite. The current exhibit blew me away. It’s clear the curator only selects artists who have rock solid foundational skills. Everything in the gallery was amazing to look at.

No sign in entrance but it's a large space. Swing by if you are an art lover and happen to be in the hood.

One of many concept stores you will find in Lisbon but this one is definitely the classiest. You can buy scent, clothes, oil paintings as well as dine in. It’s a bit out of way from the tourist hotspot but still quite accessible via public transit. It’s a beautiful neighborhood with wide streets lined by stores and a large park nearby. Stop by!
