Basilica di Santa Cecilia in Trastevere

Neat church in Trastevere. The main floor is nice but the underground is an old house and small crypt which houses some beautiful mosaics. Costs 2-3€ for entrance for the crypt.
Domus Aurea

A cool stop on the history of Rome and Nero's home. Not as well preserved compared to a lot of other ancient ruins. You must reserve a tour online to gain entry and only 23 slots per tour. Availability was plentiful in peak season, however. Nice and cool given it's all underground so this is a great option for a hot summer afternoon.
Basilica of Saint Mary of Minerva

Free entry to a church that seems unassuming on the outside but houses a Michelangelo sculpture of Jesus, which I think a lot of the visitors were unaware of.
Park of the Aqueducts

Beautiful park with extensive trails and incredible views of the ancient aqueducts! About 30-45 minute walk end to end. Very uncrowded and a great escape from crowded Rome. There's a few Nesoni near the northwest corner of the park by the dog park.
Palatine Hill

Far more vast and impressive than the Forum area with some real "hidden" gems if you venture far enough. Great ruins and experience of what the emperors of Rome experienced.
