Absolutely amazing museum. Don't understand people who wrote it is small as it has 2 floors full of artefacts and well written boards and signs, even with funny cartoons, which walk you thru Maltese history in a timely order.
There are even folding chairs available if you want to rest.
There is separate exhibition about shipwreck and coins exhibition.
I have been there over 2 hours and didn't see it all and will happily return.

Museum on multiple floors, lift available, with permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Exhibition route takes you thru historical development of Malta via sculptures and paintings, also religion related section, daily life section with furniture and porcelain, you can see how parts of Valletta used to look like. Loved the interactive screens where art techniques are explained and then you can create your own digital art piece.
